Pilipinas Got Talent alumni and Digos City, Davao del Sur native Buildex Pagales was chosen by Coca-Cola to sing the fun "Madayaw Davao, Madayaw Coca Cola" song. The song is obviously written especially for my beloved hometown Davao and for fellow Dabawenyos :) Buildex Pagales is just 15 years old (I can almost hear the shrieks from all the female tweens! :D) and he's supposedly dubbed as "the Bruno Mars of the Philippines." He basically knocked the Pilipinas Got Talent judges' knocks off when he sang Bruno Mars' "Billionaire" and "Just The Way You Are." Reports also say that one of the judges, Kris Aquino, even shared on Twitter that she found the fellow Mindanaoan's story "inspiring." This "Madayaw Davao, Madayaw Coca Cola" song is part of the said beverage company's ongoing "open ...

The King of Festivals is finally here! Kadayawan Festival 2011 has finally started! Kadayawan Festival is the biggest, most colorful and grandest annual event in Davao City and perhaps in the entire Mindanao. Kadayawan Festival, which never fails to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors to Davao City, is the yearly event where the Davao City tribes all gather and celebrate life, culture, tradition and thank God for the bounties of harvest. Kadayawan Festival Davao City also signals the start of the durian and orchid seasons in Davao! Yes, folks, you can purchase durian and orchids particularly waling-waling at pretty good prices during Kadayawan. Kadayawan, by the way, is from the word "dayaw," which means valuable, beautiful, good or just about anything positive. The color theme in th...

Amid other big news today, the reported resignation of Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri was the most talked about. A lot of people shared their reactions to the news that the senator from Bukidnon and fellow Mindanaoan Senator Migs Zubiri will resign amid allegations of poll fraud claims. Mindanaoan wrote a blog post about this earlier. As I previously mentioned, I called up some key people from the Zubiri camp. I also even contacted Senator Migs Zubiri himself. However, although I was privy to some important details, I refused to confirm anything pending the privilege speech of Senator Miguel Zubiri before the Senate plenary, which happened today, August 3, 2011. I was also told that his father, former Bukidnon governor now vice governor Jose Ma. Zubiri, Jr., mother Maria Victoria "Vicky," w...

You heard the theme song. You got intrigued when you heard this - "kaya mo bang mahalin ang isang taong mawawala din sayo?" And, by now, it's likely that you've memorized this line - "Thank you for yesterday. Thank you for today. And if I forget, thank you for tomorrow." Yes, it seems you're ready to fall in love on June 15, 2011. KC Concepcion and Sam Milby will topbill one of the most awaited movies of this year, the Star Cinema offering "Forever And A Day." Truth be told, I think this KC Concepcion and Sam Milby starrer is THE most awaited movie here in Mindanao - primarily because they shot this flick in 3 key areas in Mindanao - Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City (who wouldn't be excited to see familiar places? Former world boxing champion Oscar De La Hoya has apologized to Manny Pacquiao, current world boxing champion, world's best pound for pound boxer and congressman representing the lone district of Sarangani, Mindanao. This Oscar De La Hoya apology, which I personally followed via Twitter, comes after Top Rank CEO Bob Arum reportedly said that if only De La Hoya and Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions merely extended their apologies to Manny Pacquiao, the Mindanaoan boxer may just consider recalling the defamation case he filed against them. Arum was once quoted as saying that if Oscar dela Hoya and Schaefer want to withdraw the defamation lawsuit filed against them by Pacquiao, they just had to extend their sincerest apologies. And now, Oscar De La Hoya has made the first mov...

For the uninitiated, a Helicam is a remote-controlled mini helicopter that can be used to take aerial pictures or motion images using video, still or motion film cameras. A helicam is remotely controlled and can allow pan, tilt and roll movements. A wireless onboard video transmitter then "downlinks" the live signal to the camera operator.
