Sereno is the new Supreme Court Chief Justice

And so the new Chief Justice in the Philippines has finally been named. The new Supreme Court Chief Justice is Associate Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, the first Supreme Court Associate Justice appointed by President Benigno Aquino III. The new Philippine Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno is also the 3rd most junior justice in the Supreme Court. Her post as the new Chief Justice was announced today, August 24, 2012. Sereno, 52, takes the vacated seat of ousted Chief Justice Renato Corona, who was dismissed May 29, 2012 after allegedly failing to disclose millions in assets. I was in Bukidnon when San Juan Rep. JV Ejercito (or Joseph Victor Ejercito Estrada) told me that he was coming for a visit. I readily told Rep. JV Ejercito that I would be glad to assist him especially since I still had tons of media and government contacts in Bukidnon. I was also very curious to see how the people of Bukidnon would react when they see him. I first shared this info about the proposed plastic ban in Davao City last May 2012. Today, I'm so happy to let you all know that the Davao City plastic ban ordinance is now being implemented! Davao City has started to implemented the ban against non-biodegradable plastics and styrofoam materials. The Davao City plastic ban started last June 28, 2012. The measure is in line with the city's Ecological Solid Waste Management efforts. Not all plastics are banned, however. You can still use BIODEGRADABLE plastics in Davao City. You are also very much welcome to use paper bags and other biodegradable packing materials as well. The gun ban in ARMM is part of the measures being implemented to maintain peace and order during the general voter's registration in the ARMM. The ARMM voter registration, which will be held from July 9 to 18, 2012, is part of the Commission on Elections' bid to cleanse its electoral records for subsequent polling. During his recent visit to Cagayan de Oro, US Ambassador Harry K. Thomas, Jr. led the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Cagayan de Oro City LGU. The MOU was for the launch of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)'s Cities Development Initiative. Ambassador Thomas, USAID Mission Director Gloria D. What I initially envisioned to be a small and private donation drive grew bigger and bigger by the minute, thanks to the power of Twitter, Facebook, blogging and other online media tools. It's official, folks! :) I have been chosen by the U.S. Department of State to visit the United States of America as a participant in the International Visitor Leadership Program or IVLP. I will leave for the U.S. on March 3, 2012 and will stay there until the first week of April 2012 :) Actually, the program that I will be a part of will only run for 3 weeks but I plan to stay a bit more to savor the sights and sounds of the USA. During the 3-week program, I will visit Washington, Orlando Florida, Salt Lake City Utah and Portland Oregon. Typhoon Sendong photos – Pulangui River Bukidnon

A blog reader of mine, Francis Awiten, sent these photos he took of the Pulangui River or Pulangi River, the longest river in the Province of Bukidnon, Mindanao, Philippines. Bukidnon was also hit by Typhoon Sendong. Typhoon Sendong's international name is Tropical Storm Washi. The death toll from Typhoon Sendong has reportedly reached 180 with nearly 400 people missing because of flash floods. Most of the victims' bodies were covered in mud. As you can see from the photos of Pulangui River, the water level really rose. Pulangui River Bukidnon has a length of 320 kilometers and traverses through majority of the cities and municipalities of Bukidnon from its source in Barangay Kalabugao, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.

Is Mindanao Philippines ready for another Hollywood film shooting? Which area or areas in Mindanao can easily be a great location for the next big Hollywood movie? I can't help but think about these after I read that Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz and a couple of other Hollywood actors and actresses are set to arrive in Manila, Philippines early next year for the shooting of "The Bourne Legacy." According to the Film Development Council of the Philippines, "Bourne Legacy" will shoot scenes in Manila, Philippines by January 2012. The movie is set for release sometime August 2012. Color Me Badd. All 4 One. I literally waited decades before it happened. And when it finally did, I forgot all the questions that I wanted to ask All 4 One and Color Me Badd for the longest time. I just simply enjoyed every moment I spent with them, did not hesitate to let them know that I was a certified fan, became their self-appointed paparazzi for the day, screamed at the top of my lungs, danced onstage (gulp!) and told them again and again just how loved they all were, still are and always will be! And - get this - I spent time again with them a few days later, got autographs and a special video message from All 4 One and Color Me Badd for all my beloved readers!
