Tokyo Tokyo: Now Serving CDO

Tokyo Tokyo CDO is finally open! The very first Cagayan de Oro City branch of Tokyo Tokyo opened last November 29, 2012 at the 2nd Floor of Limketkai Mall but I was pretty lucky. The night before the grand launch, Mindanaoan was among the very first to try their signature dishes - I was invited to a special gathering of friends from Tokyo Tokyo and the local media community. By the way, a few days before its grand launch, Mindanaoan shared the news about Tokyo Tokyo Cagayan de Oro via this blog post. I was pretty stoked especially since I frequently visited Tokyo Tokyo back when I was still working in Manila. My "usuals" over at Tokyo Tokyo are the shrimp tempura, maki, pork tonkatsu and miso soup. Of course, the popular and truly delicious Tokyo Tokyo red iced tea is never far behind. ...

This year 2012 has been a year of many firsts for this Mindanao blogger. For the very first time, I was sent to the USA by the US Embassy in Manila for a really special leadership program. I was also given the chance to accompany US Ambassador to the Philippines Harry Thomas when he visited Mindanao last July. And on a less formal (but still very exciting) opportunity, I met a1, Blue and Jeff Timmons. I also have a new sport this year - boxing! Yup! Who knew I'd fall in love with boxing? :) And now I have fallen in love with another sport - practical shooting. If there are two things that I absolutely like, these are Mexican and Italian food. I'm a huge sucker for fajitas, quesadillas, tacos...and oh yes, yes, yes nachos! Yum! I am absolutely convinced that I can survive on nachos alone :D I love nachos so much that I made a special trip to a specific restaurant just to order nachos de salsa. I also love nachos with oozing melted cheese! Yeah, that's how crazeballs I can get when it comes to nachos :P I like pasta, too. According to a recently conducted survey, residents living in Metro Manila chose Davao City, Surigao and Cagayan de Oro City - all Mindanao towns, of course - as some of their top dreamland destinations. Woohoo! Go Mindanao :D According to the survey, money, time, promise of fun and adventure, or plain reclusion, at least for the summer, were cited as major factors that would determine the final destination. Golden Cowrie restaurant at Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro

Finally had the chance to treat my mom and brothers to the newly opened Golden Cowrie Native Restaurant located at the Rosario Arcade, Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao. This Golden Cowrie CDO branch is a franchise and the first outside Cebu, where Golden Cowrie started in 1982. I'm actually a regular customer at the original Golden Cowrie restaurant along Salinas Drive, Lahug, Cebu City (just a few blocks away from Waterfront Lahug) and I often bring my PR clients there for meetings or small press conferences. In fact, a few weeks before the May 2010 elections, I organized mini press briefings there for three senatorial candidates (all of whom were my clients --- I provided public relations, events, media and marketing services to them). My family and I recently celebrated my brother Ben's birthday by sharing one delicious, special birthday lunch on a Sunday at Kagay-anon Restaurant. One of our brothers, Nathaniel, wasn't around, though, since he's already based in Cebu City but we called him several times all throughout the day so we still strongly felt his presence. For that special Sunday birthday lunch, we had camaron rebosado and calamares: We also had another family favorite which is lato seafood.
