My Public Relations and Blogging speaking engagement

I was one of the resource speakers during the recently concluded CDO Bloggers 3rd Blogging Workshop. Held last October 22, 2011, the very successful blogging workshop saw the attendance of several would-be and existing bloggers, SEO specialists, online media practitioners and social media enthusiasts. It was really great to be in the company of like-minded individuals ;) My topic was about public relations and blogging. Like I told the participants, I've been in the PR industry for a decade and in the traditional media for about 5 years. I discovered the beauty of blogging and online media about 5 years ago and I continue to learn a lot about the importance of putting publicity, online media, social media and blogging together. Anyways, I talked about what publicists really do, the d...

Three Mindanaoan youth groups were among the winners in the 9th Search for Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) this year! The TAYO Awards recognizes and supports the outstanding contributions of youth in nation-building. Young Mindanawans Peace Builders, Youth Solidarity for Peace - Peace Advocates Zamboanga and the Association of Locally - Empowered Youth in Northern Mindanao all shone in the recently concluded TAYO 9 Awards. The awarding ceremony of TAYO 9 was held recently at the Heroes' Hall in Malacanang. Now THIS is an airport! Top Filipino designer Kenneth Cobonpue has just revealed the proposed Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal I design! And all I can say is --- absolutely gorgeous! By the looks of it, the proposed NAIA 1 design may even rival Singapore's Changi Terminal! Changi Terminal remains to be my favorite airport but if this Kenneth Cobonpue NAIA 1 design pushes through, I might have a new fave soon! Kenneth Cobonpue, through his official Facebook account, has revealed the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 Rehabilitation and Renovation plan. Cobonpue worked alongside Budji Layug and Royal Pineda in cooperation with the National Competitiveness Council of the Philippines. And take note ha --- these top notch designers did this pro-bono! Review: Max’s Restaurant CDO

Business, Cagayan de Oro City, Commentary, Consumer, Food, Mindanaoan Update, Northern Mindanao, Opinion, Photos, Recipes, Reviews, Weird
I have a strange love affair with Max's Restaurant Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao branch. My family and I used to be regular customers when the Max's Restaurant CDO branch was still in Divisoria. I even wrote about one of their promos before. I also used to treat a lot of my Public Relations clients there before. I also organized a few political events in their function rooms. However, after I read this negative feedback about Max's Cagayan de Oro by a CDO Blogger, I decided to stay away, lest that I myself would experience the same poor service. What happened between Max's Restaurant and the CDO Bloggers was a shame, really. I do know that the CDO Bloggers President then already issued an official response. Not sure if Max's management issued an apology or statement. Fast forward a year...

Early this week, my cousins, some friends and I went to the Dahilayan Adventure Park in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon. Just in case you still do not know, Dahilayan Adventure Park is home to Asia's longest dual cable zipline --- all 840 meters of it! The Bukidnon zipline adventure park is also 4,500 meters above sea level so the climate there's pretty cold :) Anyways, I'll tell you more about my recent trip to this Bukidnon tourist spot in another post. If you want to see what went down during my first visit to Dahilayan Bukidnon zipline, though, you might want to read THIS. What I want to share now are some of the photos this Mindanao photographer took during a stopover at the Municipality of Impasugong, Bukidnon. Impasugong is about an hour and a half away from Manolo Fortich. It's a fi...

Well if you're a regular reader of this Mindanaoan.com blog, you'd probably know that I'm a frequent visitor of Resorts World Manila, that entertainment, food, shopping destination and luxury hotel complex right across the new Ninoy Aquino International Airport 3 (NAIA 3). There are a lot of reasons why I like Resorts World Manila a lot but I guess the best one would be the fact that I had one ultra amazing night there before and the results of that lucky night helped me and my Mom spend our first ever mother-daughter Valentine's Day celebration in Singapore and my entire family (me, my Mom and 3 younger brothers) spend a few glorious days in Hong Kong and Macau :) Yep, I only have fun memories about Resorts World Manila! Now, here's another reason for me (AND YOU!) to love Resort...

Color Me Badd. All 4 One. I literally waited decades before it happened. And when it finally did, I forgot all the questions that I wanted to ask All 4 One and Color Me Badd for the longest time. I just simply enjoyed every moment I spent with them, did not hesitate to let them know that I was a certified fan, became their self-appointed paparazzi for the day, screamed at the top of my lungs, danced onstage (gulp!) and told them again and again just how loved they all were, still are and always will be! Personal: A quick hello (and am I the only one listening to Adele?)

Musings, Personal
A few hours ago, I wanted to start a new blog. Just a simple one. Something like Tumblr. Where you can just drown in your own thoughts and not worry about how others would think about you. I needed to write and vent out certain feelings. I needed to rant a little bit and cry a little bit. I thought that maybe it'd be easier if I write those types of entries in a separate blog. And then maybe keep the entries private. Or that only a few, carefully chosen people would know where and how to find them. I changed my mind. Mindanaoan.com plays a big part in my life. It's still my "main" blog so unless something utterly weird happens or if things already start becoming a little too uncomfortable, I'll still treat this as my main online space. I hope you guys are cool with that. This blog...

Steve Jobs. Apple Co-Founder. American computer entrepreneur and inventor. Former Pixar Animation Chief Executive Officer. Adopted as a child but became to be one of the greatest geniuses of our time. 1955 - 2011. So much has been said about the man we all know as the one behind the iMac, iPod, iTouch and iPhone. When Steve Jobs died yesterday, October 5, 2011, people mourned, people became "iSad, iMourn, iCry." As a fan and user of Apple products, I also became very sad. I took to Twitter and shared my thoughts. I agree, Steve Jobs made the world immeasurably better. And I will forever be thankful that he shared his talent, skill and passion with all of us. However, I also have to say one thing: I will think about death much like how Steve Jobs did. It'll inspire me to follow my ...

Review: C5 Dormitel Davao City | Budget hotel Davao

Davao City, Davao Del Norte, Davao del Sur, Hotels, Mindanaoan Update, Reviews, Tourism, Travel
Looking for a cheap hotel in Davao City? If you need an affordable place to stay in Davao City, Mindanao, then you might want to consider a dormitel (dormitory + hostel/hotel). A dormitel may not have all the fancy amenities found in a hotel but it does offer the basics --- bed, washroom, shower, cable TV, aircon, wifi (in some cases). Just the right features for travelers who need a clean place to crash in and want value for their money. One Davao dormitel that you might want to check out is C5. Located along Roxas Avenue, C5 Dormitel Davao is just a block away from the Ateneo de Davao University campus along CM Recto. C5 Dormitel is also just a few steps away from the renowned Marco Polo Hotel Davao and the tourist favorite Aldevinco Shopping Mall. So location is pretty good. C5 Do...
