Spotted this ad by a "top multinational beverage manufacturing company" in a regional newspaper here in Mindanao today. The company's name wasn't specified (and I must admit, I have qualms about this) - still, it's worth a try, yes? Especially since a lot of Mindanaoans still don't have jobs these days. Gaisano Mall of Davao Red Carpet cinema equipped with La-Z-Boy seats

Gaisano Mall of Davao, one of the large malls in the world's most livable city, now has a large, spacious cinema equipped with lazyboy (or rather La-Z-Boy) seats! For only P150.00, you can enjoy sitting on a very comfortable, cushiony seat with foot rest at the Red Carpet cinema! The theater is very spacious and you get a lot of extra leg room. What I did notice, however, was that the seats come in two. Meaning if you're going to watch a movie solo, there may be a possibility that someone else will also occupy the adjoining lazyboy seat. So I guess the Gaisano Mall of Davao Red Carpet cinema encourages catching flicks with a friend :) You also have your very own cup holder and extra space for small things (like perhaps your cellphone or car keys). Fellow Mindanaoans! Let's all be on alert! PAGASA has said that tropical depression “Urduja” has entered the Philippine area of responsibility yesterday afternoon and it has now hit Mindanao and Visayas. Here in Mindanao, storm signal number 1 has already been raised over Camiguin, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Dinagat and Siargao Island. According to PAGASA, typhoon Urduja is bringing strong winds from 30 to 60 kilometers per hour. Let's all take the necessary precautions. Davao City Mindanao to finally have its own sports dome

Thankfully, my fellow Dabawenyos and I can now finally say that our beloved Davao City REALLY is a world-class city to live in. I just learned that the world's most livable city will soon have its very own sports dome --- fully airconditioned, ready to accommodate roughly 8,000 people and worth roughly P100 million. And here's something that may surprise a lot of people --- the City Government of Davao need not shell out a single cent since the funds for this project have been sourced elsewhere --- i.e. the national government funds. Interestingly, the funding for this Davao City sports dome will be taken from the congressional development fund of the Speaker of the House Prospero Nograles, a certified Dabawenyo. Singer Erik Santos was the special guest during the BPInoy Life Series event in Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao last October 2, 2009. The BPInoy Life Series event, which was sponsored by Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), aimed to showcase the various services and products of BPI, Globe, Ayala Land and other partner agencies. Attendees of the event were mostly beneficiaries or recipients of foreign remittances (from Overseas Filipino Workers) or entrepreneurs who engaged in businesses that also dealt with foreign remittances. Locsin is nominated for her title role in the popular ABS CBN Channel 2 series "Lobo" ("The Wolf" in the International Emmys) "Lobo" was Locsin's first TV series under ABS CBN Channel 2, following her controversial departure from GMA 7. Pinoy Big Brother 2009 – PBB Double Up – has two Mindanaoans

So the Pinoy Big Brother 2009 PBB Double Up finally conducted its "magical reveal" of this year's housemates last night. Mindanaoan was able to watch parts of the show, which was hosted by Toni Gonzaga, Bianca Gonzales and Mariel Rodriguez. Thankfully, there are two Mindanaoan housemates this year. One is Melisa Cantiveros from General Santos City and the other is Marielle Sorino, a fellow Dabawenyo. Both are 21 years old. Melisa is dubbed as "Inday Kengkay" and is an aspiring teacher (during her brief interview, she spoke in English...with very good intonation, I must say!) while Marielle is a single mother and admitted to having been "rebellious" before - i.e. she drank and frequently partied and as a consequence, encountered conflicts with her parents especially her mom. Independent Senator Richard Gordon probably has too much time on his hands. This was the very first thing that came to my mind when this Mindanaoan blogger learned that Senator Dick Gordon filed a proposal before the Senate to add a ninth ray to the sun in the Philippine Flag. Yes, you read that right. A ninth ray to the sun in the Philippine Flag. According to him, the additional ray will symbolize his "advocacy to champion reforms in Mindanao."
