Britney Spears new single “Hold It Against Me” [listen here; with lyrics]

The long wait is finally over! Pop princess Britney Spears has released a new single dubbed "Hold It Against Me" and the song was aired first via Ryan Seacrest's radio program. Britney Spears, darling of Kentwood, Louisiana and the pop singer responsible for the monster hits "Baby Hit Me One More Time," "Oops...I Did It Again," "Toxic," "Womanizer" and "Slave 4 U" The new Britney Spears song is supposed to be released for radio airplay around the world today, January 11, 2011. Yup, 1-11-11! The entire new Britney Spears album will be released in March, according to reports. The music video for "Hold It Against Me" will be show in two weeks' time. I must admit that even a few days after my humble Mindanaoan.com blog won as Best Lifestyle Blog for Mindanao in the Philippine Blog Awards 2010, I still am on cloud 9. John Mayer and his songs are a big part of my life. I used to think that most, if not all, of his songs were fit for certain phases of my life. Sure, he may be known these days as one notorious chick magnet (he only managed to catch Jennifer Aniston lang naman), a kiss-and-tell boyfriend (read: Jessica Simpson) and one sorry fool who thought he could "intellectualize an emotionally filled" racist term but I guess we can't deny that John Clayton Mayer has produced great, chart-topping songs. This John Mayer song below, entitled "Daughters," for instance, gave me goosebumps the very first time I heard it. Be still my heart! I often don't post videos unless they're purely mine or they're absolutely interesting but really, this video of Cebuano band Urbandub playing their song "First of Summer" on nothing but iPods is MAJOR, MAJOR fascinating! Urbandub is really setting a lot of standards in the local music scene. I remember they're the first band to hold a "virtual concert" - one that can only be "attended" online. Now, they're playing songs on purely Apple iPods. YEAAAHHHH!!! Watch the video of Urbandub playing on nothing but iPods and be blown away as well!

Mindanao blogger at TV5’s PO5 (Party on 5)

A few weeks ago, this blogger from Mindanao, along with her friends, had the chance to watch the live telecast of PO5 (Party on 5) right inside the studio, thanks to my dear friend Jay Durias of the band South Border. P.O.5 or Party On 5 is TV5's Sunday noontime variety show - their answer to ABS CBN's "ASAP XV" and GMA 7's "Party Pilipinas." The show's hosts include Lucy Torres-Gomez (who's now a congresswoman - not sure if she'll continue her hosting job), John Estrada, Wilma Doesnt, JC de Vera, Alex Gonzaga and Tuesday Vargas. Ryan Agoncillo was still a part of the show when I watched it live from the studio but he later quit in order to attend to wife Judy Ann Santos' pregnancy. Guess who the show's musical director is? One of the most respected Filipino artist-groups will hold a farewell concert in Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao very soon. The APO Hiking Society, composed of Jim Paredes, Buboy Garovillo and Danny Javier, will hold a farewell show in Cagayan de Oro City on Friday, May 21, 2010, 8PM at the Atrium of the Limketkai Center. Nacionalista Party’s Grand Cebu City “Wowowillie” rally

Mindanaoan had the chance to cover the uber grand "Wowowillie meets Manny Villar" rally in Cebu City recently. Yes, it was "Wowowee" and popular host Willie Revillame meet Nacionalista Party standard bearer Manny Villar, vice presidential candidate Loren Legarda and senatorial bets Atty.
