Anybody who knows me well knows that I am a huge fan of Kean Cipriano. For the uninitiated, Kean Cipriano is the lead vocalist of the popular Filipino band Callalily. His band is best known for the hit songs "Hintay," "Magbalik," "Stars," "Sanctuary" and "Susundan." I first met Kean in person when I was hired as an event organizer of a Callalily concert a few years ago. Needless to say, as soon as I watched him and his band perform, I was hooked! I became a self-proclaimed "Callalista" :D Then, fast forward 2010, I accidentally found out that one of the lawyers in the same firm where a former senatorial-candidate-friend of mine was a partner was actually Kean's uncle! Before anything else, I'd like to say that I'm a proud RockEd volunteer. Rock Ed Philippines, which began in 2005, aims to get Filipinos interested in nation building. Rock Ed links Filipinos from all walks of life with causes that they are interested in. Once you sign up for Rock Ed, you're assigned projects that fit your expertise, interests or skill sets. In my case, I usually volunteer for projects related to blogging, publicity, event management, photography, media and business-related stuff. Now this is where the point of this blog post starts :D You see, I found this project in the Rock Ed Philippines website. Here's a great follow-up to my previous blog post about the Mindanao youth org-finalists to the 8th Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) Awards --- two (yes, TWO!) youth groups from Mindanao won! Let's all congratulate the Pro-Drop Out Reduction Program (PRO-DORP) Team from Surigao del Sur, Mindanao and the 4-H Mandaya Tribal Youth Organization (MTYO) from Compostela Valley, Mindanao! Why I am NOT voting for this blog for the Bloggers’ Choice Award

Did that surprise you? It's true. While this Mindanaoan blog may be one of the nominees for the Bloggers' Choice Award in the 2010 Philippine Blog Awards, I'm not voting for it. Instead, my vote will go to Bukidnon Online - the largest, most active/updated and most interactive blog about the Province of Bukidnon, Mindanao. I have a lot of reasons why I'm voting for BukidnonOnline.com but some of these reasons include: - Bukidnon Online is a labor of love. A few weeks ago, right before this blogger from Mindanao flew to Cebu City to open a small, humble branch of my PR, events, media and marketing business, I organized an event dubbed "BukidnonOnline.com Bukidnon Blogging 101 and How To Make Money Online Workshop" in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, Mindanao. It was a workshop I never expected to be such a huge hit - especially since there were hardly any bloggers in that part of Mindanao. Of course, by now you know that fellow Mindanaoan Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao captured his 8th title - World Light Middleweight - and has undoubtedly carved his name in boxing history. I must admit that even a few days after my humble Mindanaoan.com blog won as Best Lifestyle Blog for Mindanao in the Philippine Blog Awards 2010, I still am on cloud 9. I've written about this year's Keso de Gallo in an earlier post. This time, though, I'm campaigning for a specific town --- the Municipality of Balingasag in Misamis Oriental, Mindanao :) But before anything else, a little info about the Municipality of Balingasag. The said municipality takes pride in its 195.07 hectare Balingasag Mariculture Park which is a sprawling area for its aquaculture, mangrove area, sea ranching, fish sanctuary and navigational lane. Balingasag, which has a total of 30 barangays, is on its way to becoming the “Bangus Capital” of Northern Mindanao and probably the whole of Mindanao with the rapid increase in bangus harvest. The minute I saw this on my friend Edu's Plurk timeline, I just couldn't help but laugh and be amazed at this sari-sari store owner's ingenuity! Bartolome Malacura, a sari-sari store owner in the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS), Davao del Norte, Mindanao, probably got fed up with debtors that he posted their names on the facade of his store! As the caption states, the "shame campaign" paid off because from P2,000 (roughly $50.00), the collectibles are now down to P900 (roughly $23.00) It's probably not the preferred method of asking people to pay up but hey, it worked for Bartolome Malacura! Fellow Mindanaoan, Sarangani Congressman and the world's best pound-for-pound boxer, Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, is set to face Mexican boxer Antonio Margarito on November 13, 2010 at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium for the World Light Middleweight Championship belt. As expected, this will be another day when Filipinos all around the world will root for our very own Pacman. I bet all Mindanaoans will again feel so proud of Manny Pacquiao, who was born in Kibawe, Bukidnon but who has lived in both General Santos City and Sarangani for several years.
