I must admit, I'm not a huge fan of Starstruck, GMA 7's reality artista-based search. In fact, I haven't watched a single episode of this reality TV show in its entirety but I am familiar with some of its alumni - Jennylyn Mercado, Mark Herras, LJ Reyes and Katrina Halili. RC Cola strengthens presence in Mindanao, P1 Billion to be allotted for new bottling facility

The licensed bottler of RC Cola in the Philippines is allotting P1 Billion for the establishment of a new bottling facility here in Mindanao. Asiawide Refreshments Corporation's new state-of-the-art bottling facility is set to address the softdrink markets especially in the Davao and General Santos regions. The new RC Cola bottling facility will be put up in Davao City, Mindanao and will hopefully be operational by the first quarter of 2010. Of course, this does not only mean additional jobs for the people in Mindanao but this also shows the confidence of business owners and capitalists on the potential of Mindanao. Pinoy Big Brother 2009 – PBB Double Up – has two Mindanaoans

So the Pinoy Big Brother 2009 PBB Double Up finally conducted its "magical reveal" of this year's housemates last night. Mindanaoan was able to watch parts of the show, which was hosted by Toni Gonzaga, Bianca Gonzales and Mariel Rodriguez. Thankfully, there are two Mindanaoan housemates this year. One is Melisa Cantiveros from General Santos City and the other is Marielle Sorino, a fellow Dabawenyo. Both are 21 years old. Melisa is dubbed as "Inday Kengkay" and is an aspiring teacher (during her brief interview, she spoke in English...with very good intonation, I must say!) while Marielle is a single mother and admitted to having been "rebellious" before - i.e. she drank and frequently partied and as a consequence, encountered conflicts with her parents especially her mom. All right, so I was in Cinema 3 of Gaisano Mall of Davao, waiting for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen to begin, when this movie trailer started rolling. I found it so damn funny! It turned out to be the movie teaser of Mindanaoan Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao's upcoming film entitled "Wapakman." And take note...Pacquiao will star in "Wapakman" alongside Pussycat Dolls lead Nicole Scherzinger and WWF's Batista! Of course, we all know that Scherzinger is part-Pinay and Batista is proud of his Filipino roots as well. Check out the teaser of Manny Pacquiao's "Wapakman" movie: The Pacman will start shooting this film next month, July. Topel Lee will direct. I'm curious, though...will this movie be shown in time for the 2010 national elections?

Although there haven't been any official statements yet from both SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (the corporation behind the SM supermalls around the country) and the Salazar Family of General Santos City (said to be the owners of an 8-hectare property along Santiago Boulevard, GenSan where SM reportedly intends to put up the SM General Santos Supermall), observers believe that it's a done deal. A few months ago and fter 14 long years, my brother and I went back to General Santos City. We went there during the yearly Tuna Festival and since that trip was abruptly planned and we were about to leave within a few days, we knew we couldn't get rooms in GenSan's larger hotels or inns anymore. After searching the Internet for hours and calling almost every possible hotel, inn and lodging place in General Santos City, we were left with the only vacant room in La Tierra Del Sur Hotel. Located along the National Highway of General Santos City and just a few steps away from the old bus terminal, La Tierra Del Sur Hotel was supposedly one of the more famous lodging places in General Santos City during its heydays or so I was told.
