Mindanaoan still can't concentrate well. As much as I want to work and attend to various other matters, I still can't help but log on to Twitter via Tweetdeck (which I highly recommend that you Twitter-holics use, by the way) and check how the search and rescue as well as the relief goods distribution efforts for Typhoon Ondoy victims are doing. I keep on retweeting helpful information as much as I can and it warms my heart to see so many private citizens doing their share in helping the victims. Interestingly, though, I received a comment today in my "Advertise" page from a person who calls himself "ew." I reckon he's from Luzon. Check this out: ew gmtristan.com [email protected] 125.60.228.50 (I.P. address) ew……….what an ODD offer…and sorry to say this..but the quality of ...

However, I still want to write about this since I gave my word to Erickson Raymundo (one of the producers of the film, along with fellow Spring Films people Joyce Bernal and Piolo Pascual) that I'll write about this. Kimmy Dora Kambal Sa Kiyeme was so damn funny, wasn't it? Erickson, you were right on the money! :) Hearty congratulations to Eugene Domingo (you were so fab! I think you're the only Pinay actress who successfully made my mom laugh so damn hard! LOL), Dingdong Dantes, Zanjoe Marudo (hello, six pack!), Miriam Quiambao (you surprised me!), Ariel Ureta and Baron Geisler! My mom and I watched this flick in one of the ...

Advocacy, Announcements, Headline, Media, Mindanaoan Update, Musings, News, Society, Technology
Hello, everyone! I know it's been a very difficult two days for all of us here in the Philippines - more especially for those in Luzon. Typhoon Ondoy (international code name: Ketsana) has caused so much catastrophe in our country. It left thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, homeless, hungry and in pain. So far, a lot of deaths has already been reported and with another typhoon set to visit the country in the next 3 days (yes, unfortunately!), we really need to unite and help each other. Even though we're here in Mindanao, it is still our duty as Filipinos to help out. So please, I want to enjoin you all to please donate. The victims of Typhoon Ondoy need all the help they can get. You can donate through these measures: Donate to the Red Cross Rescue and Relief Operations. Te...

So this Mindanao blog is finally back on track! :)  If you're a regular visitor of my humble blog, you may have noticed a couple of changes in the past few days. Because my blog has turned one year old, I wanted a new, fresher look. Hence, after hours of searching for a good, clean and functional Wordpress theme, I finally settled for this Typogriph theme. Do you guys like it? I do! :D I think my posts are easier to read now and my blog looks wide! :) My old theme, Revolution Church by Brian Gardner served me so well and I would like to thank Brian for letting me have a free copy (the Church theme can now be purchased at a reasonable price) and for letting me use it for an entire year. Thank you very much, Brian! I've also installed additional useful Wordpress plugins - one of which is ...

Sir George Pension House in Cagayan de Oro City, Northern Mindanao is fast becoming one of my favorite budget accommodations in CDO. I think I've checked in 3 or 4 times after my very first stay at that cheap hotel in Cagayan de Oro City. I like the accessibility of the place (it's located at corner Pabayo and Gaerlan streets, just a few blocks away from the heart of Divisoria), the room rates are relatively cheap (single room rate starts at P600.00) and they offer FREE Wi-Fi! Read more about my review of Sir George Pension House over at the Mindanao Hotels page. I won't delve more into the amenities of this CDO pension house, though. What I want to share with you guys are these photos of my funny looking yet pretty darn cute hotel room visitor! During my most recent stay at Sir G...

If you're a blogger like me, why don't you consider joining the Nuffnang Philippines community as well? My 3 younger brothers and I all loved to draw, paint and sketch. However, our father taught us how to further hone our skills. My father was a very talented illustrator. I used "was" because he died several years ago, back when I was still in college. He was an amazing artist - with just a charcoal pencil and a blank sheet of paper, he could whip up a very detail-oriented drawing of a hen taking care of its chicks in just a few minutes. He could sketch a portrait oh so effortlessly. He didn't like to trace and he seldom used an eraser. He drew from the heart. Fast forward many years - our youngest sibling Bon seems to be the only one who continues to dabble in the arts. My love for painting, drawing and sketching is still there --- I'm just one of those who need a major bout of inspi...
