From Compostela Valley to Davao de Oro

It's the only province in the Davao Region that does not have "Davao" in its name. That will soon change, though. Compostela Valley, created in 1998 through Republic Act 8470 that divided the Province of Davao del Norte, will soon be named "Davao de Oro." President Rodrigo Duterte has signed R.A. 11297 on April 17 allowing a plebiscite that will be conducted and supervised by the Commission on Elections. The change to "Davao de Oro" will be subject to ratification by a majority of the votes cast by the qualified voters during the said plebiscite. Compostela Valley Vice Governor-elect Maricar Zamora said that the new law is "a good day" for the province. "We will soon be named DAVAO DE ORO! Akamai: Philippines has marked improvements on Internet connectivity

Improved Philippines ICT performance garner attention from foreign indexes

Absolutely great news, Philippines! Even various foreign indexes have now noted an improvement in the state of information and communications technology (ICT) in the country. Such improvement in the ICT sector is being attributed to the innovations made by telecom service providers (telcos) as well as the Philippine government. In the latest survey conducted by the United Nations Public Administration Country Studies (UNPACS) among UN member-countries, the Philippines climbed 24 notches to rank 71st out of 193 countries in "e-government development." Wao-Maramag road project to be completed by 2016

The Province of Bukidnon now has a brand new bus, courtesy of Rural Transit Mindanao, Inc. or RTMI. The bus, the cost of which is estimated to be Php 3.9 Million, can accommodate 67 passengers. Zubiri, Jr. You may all remember that RTMI is the same company that owned that bus that exploded last year. A bomb was placed inside one of the red RTMI buses and killed 10, injured 42.
