Following Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao last May 23, 2017, the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) prepared a couple of quick infographics. These are quick facts about what you as a Filipino should know about Martial Law in Mindanao.
The declaration has sent a lot of people wondering about our rights and liberties during Martial Law. Below you can find that the declaration:
- DOES NOT suspend the operation of the Constitution
- DOES NOT suspend the Judicial and Legislative branches. This means that those branches WILL STILL FUNCTION and will still be headed by civilians
