I was to happy to hear the good news from the Office of Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan recently. Three Mindanaoan youth groups were among the winners in the 9th Search for Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) this year! The TAYO Awards recognizes and supports the outstanding contributions of youth in nation-building. Young Mindanawans Peace Builders, Youth Solidarity for Peace - Peace Advocates Zamboanga and the Association of Locally - Empowered Youth in Northern Mindanao all shone in the recently concluded TAYO 9 Awards. Is Mindanao Philippines ready for another Hollywood film shooting? Which area or areas in Mindanao can easily be a great location for the next big Hollywood movie? I can't help but think about these after I read that Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz and a couple of other Hollywood actors and actresses are set to arrive in Manila, Philippines early next year for the shooting of "The Bourne Legacy." According to the Film Development Council of the Philippines, "Bourne Legacy" will shoot scenes in Manila, Philippines by January 2012. The movie is set for release sometime August 2012. Color Me Badd. All 4 One. I literally waited decades before it happened. And when it finally did, I forgot all the questions that I wanted to ask All 4 One and Color Me Badd for the longest time. I just simply enjoyed every moment I spent with them, did not hesitate to let them know that I was a certified fan, became their self-appointed paparazzi for the day, screamed at the top of my lungs, danced onstage (gulp!) and told them again and again just how loved they all were, still are and always will be! And - get this - I spent time again with them a few days later, got autographs and a special video message from All 4 One and Color Me Badd for all my beloved readers! A few months ago, a Mindanaoan beauty bagged the Binibining Pilipinas Universe 2011 crown. Shamcey Supsup of General Santos City bested the other candidates and brought home the crown. The topnotcher of the June 2010 architect licensure exam, Shamcey Supsup also graduated magna cum laude from the University of the Philippines - Diliman. This 24 year old, 5' 7 and 1/4" General Santos City beauty is indeed beauty and brains combined! Amid other big news today, the reported resignation of Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri was the most talked about. A lot of people shared their reactions to the news that the senator from Bukidnon and fellow Mindanaoan Senator Migs Zubiri will resign amid allegations of poll fraud claims. Here are the winners of the Pilipinas Got Talent (PGT) Season 2. The male "diva" from Cavite, Marcelito Po Moy, was declared grand winner of the PGT Season 2 earlier tonight, June 26, 2011. The results night was held at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City. Marcelito Po Moy, a favorite of Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2 judge Kris Aquino, bagged a total of Php 2 Million cash prize. The second placers were the tap dancing siblings from Libona, Bukidnon, Mindanao - Happy Feet. Happy Feet Bukidnon is composed of the Mata brothers. Hi everyone! This Mindanao blogger is back from a weeklong trip to Singapore and Malaysia. Yes, this is my second time in both countries…having been there last February 2011 with my mom. Needless to say, I have fallen in love with these two Asian countries! This time around, I traveled with my brother, a female friend and two female cousins. Since I was the "returnee" in the group, I was also the self-appointed tour guide. Our trip went really well (I'll make kuwento!) except that I had terrible flu the night before our flight. Here it is...finally! The winner of the simple Mindanaoan.com Starbucks beverage coupon contest :) It took me a few days to figure this out since I couldn't chance upon my niece (who was supposed to draw out the lucky winner of two tall Starbucks beverage coupons) and some people who said they joined the contest couldn't see their posts on the official Mindanaoan.com Facebook Page. In fairness to these people, when I did check their Facebook profiles, the requirements were all there and their posts were made public but they still didn't appear on the Mindanaoan FB Page. Ugh.
