For the uninitiated, a Helicam is a remote-controlled mini helicopter that can be used to take aerial pictures or motion images using video, still or motion film cameras. Dinner with the US Embassy Manila Counselor for Public Affairs

I was in Cebu City recently to open a small branch of my PR, media, marketing and outsourcing agency and to visit my younger brother at the same time. About a week and a half after I arrived, I received an invitation from fellow blogger and Plurker Jay de Jesus, the Emerging Media Specialist for Public Affairs of the US Embassy, Manila. He asked if I could attend a small, intimate dinner with someone from the US Embassy in Manila and that the dinner was to be held the evening of that very day. I asked him who I was supposed to meet. He said that it was his boss - the Counselor for Public Affairs of the US Embassy in Manila - Richard W. Nelson. I must admit, I immediately had reservations. Off to Cebu City! Thank you Air Philippines for saving the day

This is already almost too embarrassing to say considering what happened just a few weeks ago but really, my deep gratitude to the staff and crew of Air Philippines - Lumbia Airport, Cagayan de Oro City, Northern Mindanao. I was super late for my Cagayan de Oro to Cebu City flight but they still let me board. Now don't be alarmed, though. I wasn't late late. Let's just say that I didn't make the 45 minutes before the flight cut-off. My flight was at 12:50 PM and I arrived at the airport at 12:30 PM. I have a valid reason, though! I was in Bukidnon for the blogging workshop I organized and left a good 4 hours before my scheduled ETD. I must admit that even a few days after my humble Mindanaoan.com blog won as Best Lifestyle Blog for Mindanao in the Philippine Blog Awards 2010, I still am on cloud 9. Mindanao indigenous people decry portrayal of IPs in ABS CBN show “Noah”

This caught my attention because it's about a complaint filed against the representation (or misrepresentation) of indigenous peoples or Lumads in the ABS CBN Channel 2 show "Noah" starring Piolo Pascual and Zaijan Jaranilla. Here in Mindanao, the IP community is a highly respected group and as a Mindanaoan, I feel it is my duty to help advocate for their rights and help suppress discrimination, in whatever form it may be. Be still my heart! I often don't post videos unless they're purely mine or they're absolutely interesting but really, this video of Cebuano band Urbandub playing their song "First of Summer" on nothing but iPods is MAJOR, MAJOR fascinating! Urbandub is really setting a lot of standards in the local music scene. I remember they're the first band to hold a "virtual concert" - one that can only be "attended" online. So I'm finally back from a 4-day escapade in Cebu City, the Queen City of the South. The primary reason as to why Mindanaoan was in Cebu was to attend the first ever Cebu Blog Camp 2010. The event, which held the theme "Blogging, Expressions and Opportunities," gathered more than a hundred bloggers from all over the Philippines. Finally finding No Reservations Anthony Bourdain Cebu lechon – the Zubuchon!

So during Mindanaoan's Sinulog Festival 2010 escapade, I had the chance to catch one of the performances featured in the "Cebu, Cebu" event held at a large mall in Cebu City. "Cebu, Cebu" is an event that aims to focus the best of Cebu --- from food to designers to jewelry to crafts to artists. And two of the artists that came to perform during that weeklong celebration included singer-actress Pinky Marquez and crooner Chad Borja. Chad Borja may be from Cebu but he has been based in Davao City for several years now. He regularly performs at Kanto Bar over at Matina Town Square (MTS), Matina, Davao City, Mindanao.
