Guess who made quite a stir during the opening of Centrio Mall? No other than Brazilian model Daniel Matsunaga and host/model Rovilson Fernandez! The two gorgeous hunks caused so much stir that the boys later told this Mindanao lifestyle blogger that they had to do an "Amazing Race" kind of dodge and run just to make it through the sea of screaming fans. Daniel Matsunaga and Rovilson Fernandez were in town to do an autograph signing session at Planet Sports, located at the 2nd floor of Centrio Mall. Along with 2 blogger-friends, I witnessed the Miss Kagay-an 2012 swimsuit competition held last August 18, 2012 at the poolside of a hotel in Cagayan de Oro City. As I previously mentioned to you all, Mindanaoan.com is an official media partner for the Miss Kagay-an 2012 beauty pageant, which is one of the core events for the Kagay-an Festival 2012, the annual fiesta in Cagayan de Oro City in honor of patron Saint Augustine. Kagay-an Kalo Festival 2012

One of the core events in the Kagay-an Festival 2012 is the 3rd Annual Kagay-an Kalo Parade Competition. Kalo is the local word for "hat." So the Kalo Parade Competition this year will feature festive hats made out of native / indigenous materials. That's the premise of Malunggay Pastel Bread, which started as a product for a feasibility study for Xavier University students but now looks like a thriving, successful business venture. Singer Erik Santos was the special guest during the BPInoy Life Series event in Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao last October 2, 2009. The BPInoy Life Series event, which was sponsored by Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), aimed to showcase the various services and products of BPI, Globe, Ayala Land and other partner agencies. Attendees of the event were mostly beneficiaries or recipients of foreign remittances (from Overseas Filipino Workers) or entrepreneurs who engaged in businesses that also dealt with foreign remittances. Here's a video Mindanaoan took of Erik Santos as he sang "This Is The Moment." Watch out for the funny part where a guy shouts his "admiration" for Erik :D

College bands and other young musicians from all over the region will vie this Saturday, October 3, 2009, for the Nescafe 3-in-1 Soundskool 2009 Mindanao Regional Finals. The event will take place at 2PM at the Limketkai Atrium, Limketkai Mall, Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao. The event is part of the nationwide tour to select the cream of the crop among the college bands that have sent in their entries up until early September this year. The Nescafe Soundskool regional finals this Saturday will be the first of four elimination rounds.
