The 2013 midterm elections is fast approaching. Have you registered as a voter yet for the 2013 Philippine elections? Here are the registration requirements and guidelines for new voters, transferees and existing voters (those whose registrations were deleted and need to be re-activated).

Fast facts:
Filipinos eligible to vote can register at Commission on Elections (COMELEC) offices nationwide until October 31, 2012. You can also register as a voter at off-site locations.
For new voters: qualified to vote are those who have not voted and who were born on or before May 13, 1995
For transferees: qualified voters who have voted before or those who have voted elsewhere other than the city/municipality/town they’re currently residing in
Voter registration requirements:
Applicants should bring with them a copy of their BIRTH CERTIFICATE and one valid ID.
List of valid identification (ID) cards:
Current employee’s identification card (ID), with the signature of the employer or authorized representative
Postal ID
Student’s ID or library card, signed by the school authority
Senior Citizen’s ID
Driver’s license
NBI/PNP clearance
Passport
SSS/GSIS ID
Integrated Bar of the Philippine (IBP) ID
License issued by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC)
The ID should bear the applicant’s photo, signature, and complete address.
If you are 18 or 19 years old, bring your birth certificate and 1 valid ID. Produce 3 copies of your birth certificate
If you need to change your marital status, bring your marriage contract. Produce 3 copies. Also bring 1 valid ID
Important: CEDULA or barangay clearance WILL NOT be accepted
According to section 5 of COMELEC resolution 9149 promulgated last year, any Filipino citizen who has met the following requirements is eligible to vote:
At least eighteen (18) years of age;
A resident of the Philippines for at least one (1) year and in the place wherein he proposes to vote, for at least six (6) months immediately preceding the election; and
Not otherwise disqualified by law.
COMELEC offices are open Monday to Saturdays (including holidays), 8 AM to 5 PM. Some local COMELEC offices will only process voter registration applications from 9 AM to 4 PM.
