Hear my voice over at Bubbly

I'm a bit enamored with a phone app these days. It's called Bubbly and it lets you share your voice with the world. Although I know a few folks who have been using it for a while now (like the kulit boys of Rivermaya band), I only just listen to their voice blogs. I finally decided to download the app and use it last week. And my first try? Me singing "If I Believe," inspired by the Patti Austin - Lea Salonga duet on The Voice Philippines several nights back :) Did you listen? I'd be happy if you could leave comments below. Kagay-anon TJ Monterde releases “Ikaw At Ako” album, debuts music video

I met Titus John Monterde (or TJ Monterde) in Cagayan de Oro several years ago. He was friends with my brother Bon and we had a lot of mutual friends as well. He was already a celebrity in his own right then. A popular local TV host of ABS-CBN regional lifestyle show "Mag TV Northern Mindanao," TJ Monterde already had a following. Which wasn't entirely surprising since I knew TJ's friendly, smart and approachable. What I didn't know then was that the boy could sing as well. KZ Tandingan. A star is born in Digos, Davao del Sur! I'm sure a lot of you have watched that video of Kristine Zenny "KZ" Tandingan of Digos where she auditioned for "X Factor Philippines." Just in case you haven't, I placed it below. KZ Tandingan is from Digos, Davao del Sur so that makes her a fellow Mindanaoan (person from Mindanao, Philippines). I told you guys time and again, there are a LOT of amazing singers in the Philippines especially in my beloved Mindanao. Buildex Pagales sings Madayaw Davao, Madayaw Coca-Cola song

Pilipinas Got Talent alumni and Digos City, Davao del Sur native Buildex Pagales was chosen by Coca-Cola to sing the fun "Madayaw Davao, Madayaw Coca Cola" song. The song is obviously written especially for my beloved hometown Davao and for fellow Dabawenyos :) Buildex Pagales is just 15 years old (I can almost hear the shrieks from all the female tweens! :D) and he's supposedly dubbed as "the Bruno Mars of the Philippines." He basically knocked the Pilipinas Got Talent judges' knocks off when he sang Bruno Mars' "Billionaire" and "Just The Way You Are." Reports also say that one of the judges, Kris Aquino, even shared on Twitter that she found the fellow Mindanaoan's story "inspiring." Sultan Kudarat, Mindanao's pride and the Pinoy Dream Academy grand dreamer Laarni Lozada sure has gone a long way from singing in a choir to financing her own studies to winning the big prize at ABS-CBN's talent-reality show PDA. Finally…Mindanaoan meets top RnB singer and fellow Dabawenyo Thor!

So finally, Mindanaoan has met Ettore "Thor" Dulay! Thor, a fellow Dabawenyo (and so of course is also a fellow Mindanaoan), is one of the country's most talented vocalists. From starting out in a Davao City vocal group to recording an album with a hit single entitled "Wonderland" (this song held the number spot at Wave 89.1's show "Soul Review" for 5 straight weeks) to recording a song for the 2003 Metro Manila Film Festival entry "Fantastic Man" to basically being one of the most sought after singers in Metro Manila today, Thor has definitely gone a long way. Mindanaoan Maila Mitra reaches WCOPA semi-final round (video inside)

Another Mindanaoan has done it again! Although she didn't bag any major prize, we should all still be very proud of fellow Mindanaoan Maila Mitra for reaching the semi final round of the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA). This fellow Dabawenya and Ateneo de Davao University alumnae competed in the semifinals of the prestigious event held at Westin Bonaventure, Los Angeles, California, US last July 17, 2009. WCOPA is also dubbed as the "Hollywood Olympics" or "Talent Olympics." In 2005, Jed Madela bagged the Grand Champion Vocalist of the World and Grand Champion Performer of the World awards.
