Disappointed with two Davao City taxi drivers

So I was in Davao City over the weekend for their Philippine Councilors' League gig. Since I'm a certified Dabawenya (born and raised in Davao City!), I was the self-appointed "tour guide" of sorts during our two-day stay in the largest city in the world. Now what I'm about to share is NOT to lambast anyone. Instead, I'm hoping that somehow this could serve as a wake-up call not only for the City Tourism Office of Davao City but also for the hundreds of taxi drivers in Davao City as well. You see, on our first night in Davao, our group, composed of five people, caught two taxis from Matina Town Square (MTS). Ches and I rode in one taxi while the other three rode in the other one. DAVAO CITY, MINDANAO - Whenever my family and I are back home in Davao City and we happen to visit Gaisano Mall of Davao along Bajada, we often find ourselves having our snack at the cheesecake etc. branch there. Located at the second floor of the said Davao City mall, cheesecake etc. serves pasta, coffee, cakes and other pastries. My brother likes their blueberry cheesecake while I often have the chocolate moist muffins. Yum! :) Top that with a tall glass of their homebrewed iced tea and we're happy Davao foodies! Conquering the Xcelerator – the longest speed zip line in Asia

MINDANAO - A few weeks ago, my family and I celebrated our brother's birthday by trying the most talked about Xcelerator over at Outland Adventure, Davao City, Mindanao. The Outland Adventure Xcelerator is said to be the longest speed zip line in all of Asia! Cool, right? We arrived at Outland Adventure Davao City half an hour before noon. As it turned out, we missed the "cut-off" time so we had to wait until they re-opened at roughly 1:30 pm. The more than an hour wait was all right --- we just kept ourselves busy taking photos. By 1:30 pm, all of the "zip liners" for the afternoon were asked to sign waivers. Then we proceeded to the area where we put on the harnesses, helmets and other safety gear. So I'm back from a very brief visit to my hometown, Davao City, Mindanao. While it felt refreshing to be back home, my stay was a painfully short one so it was still really BITIN. My mother, brothers and I were in Wadab town to celebrate one my younger brothers' birthday. Anyways, the highlight of my Davao City trip was the much-awaited Xcelerator adventure. I have so much to share about my Outland Adventure Xcelerator adventure (I'll also share some photos!) - I'll write more about that tomorrow. The Outland Adventure Xcelerator is supposedly the longest speed zipline in all of Asia! Cool, eh? The Xcelerator is open everyday from 8am to 5 pm. Groups reservations available for weekdays. Fee is P300.00 per adult. They grant a 50 percent discount for small children if they're riding in tandem with an adult. Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero was one of the special guests during the coronation night of the Mutya ng Davao last March 14, 2009. Escudero, a frequent visitor of my hometown Davao City, was tasked to crown the new Mutya ng Dabaw 2009 winner, Resa Angeli Rizada. The new Mutya ng Dabaw winner, by the way, is a nursing graduate of San Pedro College. I was pleasantly surprised to see our "Baby South" during the press presentation of the official candidates of this year's Binibining Pilipinas 2009 pageant. Davao City soon to have a wakeboard park

I simply couldn't contain my utter excitement when I found out about this yesterday - and via Facebook, no less. Apparently, Davao City will soon have a wakeboard park! Construction of the Davao Wakeboard Park is allegedly underway and it's set to be completed on April 2009. The grand opening of this new Davao City tourist attraction is slated for May 2009. Just in time for the tail end of summer 2009! As a certified water sports aficionado, I simply cannot wait to visit this complex soon! For the uninitiated, wakeboarding is a surface water sport wherein a person uses a wakeboard (this one's smaller than a surfboard but a little bit bigger than a skateboard) over the surface of a body of water. Bukidnon anticipates “Love Me Again (Land Down Under)” but needs to go to CDO or Davao to view film

Residents of Bukidnon Province, Mindanao are highly anticipating the showing of the Angel Locsin-Piolo Pascual starrer "Love Me Again (Land Down Under)" come January 15, 2009. Busy Christmas shoppers flock to Gaisano Mall Davao

Have you been to Gaisano Mall of Davao lately? Because I'm sure you'll agree with me when I say that you will never think there's a financial crisis going on when you see the throngs of Christmas shoppers in that mall. Actually, the scenes in other malls aren't different either. Giant Christmas Tree at People’s Park Davao City

I got the chance to snap a couple of photos of the giant Christmas tree within the vicinity of People's Park, Davao City. The Christmas tree was adorned with a lot of trimmings and lights and can be found between the huge Durian dome and the fountain area. You won't miss it! This Christmas tree is also near the benches. Go to People's Park (right beside the Apo View Hotel along Camus Street) and check out this pretty Christmas tree. Better if you go there at night. Don't forget to take pictures! :)
