Mindanaoan is 2013 Mindanao Blogger Of The Year

It still feels a bit surreal, truth be told. Winning the 2013 Mindanao Blogger Of The Year award and the Best Lifestyle Blog award during the Mindanao Blog Awards 2013 held last October 26, 2013 in Davao City was the farthest thing from my mind. I was there to meet my blogger friends, have a good time, maybe drink a cocktail or two and cheer for other finalists. My mindset that night was (and I actually wrote this days before the finals):

Win or lose, you are a champ. What’s important is that you did your best in letting more people understand and appreciate the power of social media and blogging in sparking more conversations, making better communities and harnessing better understanding. Social good, folks. Only the good.

So when my name was called, you could just imagine my shock. Yup, that was my jaw on the floor.

Mindanao Blogger of the Year…WOW.

According to the official Mindanao Blog Awards website, the Mindanao Blogger of the Year is “the blogger that best exemplifies the ideals of excellence and professionalism, representing the best of Mindanao.”

Those words stung.

How can someone even begin to thank her fellow bloggers and the Mindanao Blog Awards judges for such honor?

Allow me to try, though…

To be chosen as the 2013 Mindanao Blogger Of The Year is truly an honor. This award will keep me inspired – more than ever – to advocate responsible use of blogging and social media in order to successfully and efficiently forge partnerships, spark conversations, encourage volunteerism and promote tourism. I will also continue sharing my skills and knowledge via workshops and speaking engagements. I also hope that I can inspire more Mindanaoans to take our advocacy, skills and knowledge to the next level – let’s go global! There are so many opportunities for the rest of the world to notice us!

Thank you to my family, my friends, my fellow bloggers (especially those who nominated and voted for me!), the Mindanao Blog Awards 2013 judges, the MBA organizers and sponsors, all the individuals, brands and companies that put their trust in me and most especially to all of my readers, subscribers, followers, online friends!
