It’s game time. Today, February 21, 2016, all of the presidential candidates for the May 9, 2016 Philippine elections will all converge in Cagayan de Oro, Philippines for the first round of “PiliPinas Debates 2016.” And Mindanaoan will be there to observe, comment and cover. I will be one of the only 300 allowed to be inside the debate hall. I will also be among the 25 media observers.
I am hoping to harness the power of social media today.
May I invite you all to follow me:

Snapchat – Username is mindanaoan
Please follow Bukidnon Blogger @malaybalayan as well. We will both be there.
The debate will start at 5 PM and will last for two hours. I will, however, be at the venue already by 2 PM. I can only share photos taken before the debate, however, as the people inside the debate hall are prohibited from taking photos during the event.
I KNOW RIGHT.
Anyway, please note that a few days ago, the Cagayan de Oro Press Club complained about the rules and guidelines of the debate.
As I type this, I’ve learned that the five presidential candidates – Senator Grace Poe, Vice President Jejomar Binay, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, former Cabinet secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, and Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago – are already all here in the city.
The debate will have 4 rounds of questions covering topics of national interest like poverty reduction, peace and order, the Constitution, Mindanao concerns and a candidate’s track record.
Thank you to GMA 7 SVP of Regional Business Development Oliver Amoroso for the assistance.
This is it, Pilipinas! Let’s all listen to what the candidates have to say so we can make informed choices.
Please feel free to engage with me online later! Daghang salamat.
