Following the FREE wi-fi launches in other SM malls including SM City Cebu, SM CITY Cagayan de Oro now offers FREE wi-fi access! FINALLY! So now SM CDO does not only offer uptown shopping, dining and entertaining experience...they now also offer free Internet! Yay! :) SM City Cagayan de Oro had its free wifi launch event last October 18, 2009 at the Atrium, Ground Floor area. Unfortunately, Mindanaoan wasn't able to attend since I was in Davao City at that time. I did hear that everyone who went had a good time, though! The CDO Bloggers, this year's organizers of the much-awaited Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3, were invited to the event. Gifts were given away and there even was a best blog contest that day. Fun! I learned that there will be an Ateneo de Davao University and Ateneo de Manila University Glee Club joint concert on November! AAAHHH!!! The First Magis: The All-Ateneo Glee Club Concerto will be held on November 28, 2009, 7PM at the Finster Auditorium, 7th Floor of the Finster Building, Ateneo de Davao University, Davao City, Mindanao! The new United States Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission, Leslie A. Bassett, will speak during the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3 which will be held on October 24, 2009 at Pearlmont Inn, Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao. Bassett will represent US Ambassador Kristie Kenney who initially agreed to attend the MBS 3 but had to attend to other pressing matters. After all, he was the "presidentiable" who hasn't formally declared his intentions yet...because he was still underage. Singer Erik Santos was the special guest during the BPInoy Life Series event in Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao last October 2, 2009. The BPInoy Life Series event, which was sponsored by Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), aimed to showcase the various services and products of BPI, Globe, Ayala Land and other partner agencies. Attendees of the event were mostly beneficiaries or recipients of foreign remittances (from Overseas Filipino Workers) or entrepreneurs who engaged in businesses that also dealt with foreign remittances. BREAKING NEWS! Filipina actress Angel Locsin was nominated for Best Actress in the International Emmy Awards! Locsin is nominated for her title role in the popular ABS CBN Channel 2 series "Lobo" ("The Wolf" in the International Emmys) "Lobo" was Locsin's first TV series under ABS CBN Channel 2, following her controversial departure from GMA 7. The winners of the Nescafe 3in1 Soundskool 2009 Mindanao regional finals were declared last Saturday, October 3, 2009 via an afternoon-long musical event held at The Atrium of the Limketkai Mall in Cagayan de Oro City, Northern Mindanao. Little School House of Xavier University, EEVEE of Philippine Women's College Davao City and Disco, Disco, Disco of St. Michael's College were declared the winners of the Mindanao eliminations. AVON Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer Walk successfully held in Mindanao

My mom and I joined the Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao leg of the AVON Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer Walk for A Cause last Sunday, October 4, 2009 at the kiosk area, Divisoria. The fundraiser, which was participated in by hundreds of ladies (and gents!) all garbed in pink, aimed to push advocacy for women’s health and fitness, breast cancer awareness as well as women’s protection against breast cancer. The walk started at around 6 am. The crowd then reconvened at the kiosk area at around 9 am and a short program was held. So the Pinoy Big Brother 2009 PBB Double Up finally conducted its "magical reveal" of this year's housemates last night. Mindanaoan was able to watch parts of the show, which was hosted by Toni Gonzaga, Bianca Gonzales and Mariel Rodriguez. Thankfully, there are two Mindanaoan housemates this year. One is Melisa Cantiveros from General Santos City and the other is Marielle Sorino, a fellow Dabawenyo. Both are 21 years old. Melisa is dubbed as "Inday Kengkay" and is an aspiring teacher (during her brief interview, she spoke in English...with very good intonation, I must say!) while Marielle is a single mother and admitted to having been "rebellious" before - i.e. she drank and frequently partied and as a consequence, encountered conflicts with her parents especially her mom. I, Mindanaoan, was finally able to "introduce" my mom to the renowned Roadhouse Cafe baby back ribs. I say renowned because a lot of foodies and food experts have already given their thumbs up on the baby back ribs served at Roadhouse Cafe. Roadhouse Cafe serves Asian and Western cuisine. Its first and original branch can be found along Sayre Highway (national highway), Valencia City, Bukidnon, Mindanao. It now has a second branch at SM City Cagayan de Oro. Cagayan de Oro is roughly 2 and a half hours away from Valencia City. Reasonably priced, Roadhouse Cafe's baby back ribs tastes a bit sweet and tangy.
