A Mindanaoan blog worth checking out – Ganda Ever So Much!

Advocacy, Blogging, General Santos City, Humor, Internet, Mindanaoan Update, Musings, Personal, SoSCksargen
One of the things that this blogger in Mindanao loves about blogging is the fact that I get to meet other people who are as passionate about writing and sharing stuff as I am. Through blogs and activities related to blogging such as blog camps, bloggers day, bloggers summits, and online media briefings, I get to meet not only virtual friends but interesting people and friends in real life. Take the case of a fellow Mindanaoan named Orman who's behind a Mindanaoan blog that's worth checking out - GandaEverSoMuch.com! I first learned about Ganda Ever So Much through Avel, the man behind the award-winning Bariles Republic. Avel and Orman are brothers. I've been visiting Bariles Republic/GenSantos.com a few times before and I've been noticing Orman's name. He didn't have a blog then but ...

Mindanaoan does pre-nup, pre-wedding photography in Manila

Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanaoan Update, Photos, Weddings
Barely two days before the May 2010 elections, Mindanaoan met up with my brother Bon for a pre-nuptial photo shoot in Manila. The game plan was supposed to be simple - two days for the pre- wedding photoshoot and another two days for another wedding photography gig in Tagaytay. Alas, I had to fly back to Mindanao to exercise my right to suffrage (just a fancy way of saying that I needed to vote :D) plus I also had to monitor the standings of my political client-candidates (as you may or may not know, Mindanaoan is a political publicist. Check here for my other activities) And so, I was only able to serve as second photographer for my brother for a day. Still, I had major fun shooting and assisting my brother, who's a professional wedding photographer in Cagayan de Oro. The theme of t...

Only one Mindanaoan among INC’s endorsees

Announcements, Bukidnon, Mindanaoan Update, Religion
Only one Mindanaoan made it to the coveted list of the senatorial candidates who will receive the support of the reported 5-million strong Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC). Incumbent Bukidnon 2nd District Congressman Teofisto "TG" Guingona III, who's currently gunning for a senatorial seat under the banner of the Liberal Party, is the lone Mindanaoan who's set to receive votes from INC. INC is reportedly the biggest religious sect in the country that observes bloc voting. Reportedly, non-compliance to the voting preference of the leadership is considered a sin that is punishable by expulsion. Other senatorial bets who will receive support from the INC are Ramon Revilla Jr., Lito Lapid, Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada, and Pia Cayetano; former senators Vicente “...

Before you read this, though, have you read my previous entry? You may want to check out Mindanaoan artist Laarni Lozada's cool makeover (saw her in person during the "Sharon" taping). I must say, it's good to see a Mindanaoan singer doing pretty good in her chosen career and that she's doing well in Manila, too, so it seems. Kudos to Laarni! Anyways, on to my kuwento about my "Sharon" taping experience. Thanks to Miss Bing, I got passes enough for 5 people to watch the April 18, 2010 taping of Sharon Cuneta's show. Although it wasn't my first time to watch "Sharon," I still felt excited especially since I towed some of my friends along. I was the self-proclaimed ABS CBN complex tour guide of sorts that day --- we went to the cafeteria (where, during my days working in ABS CBN Manila, a...
