My brother Bon, along with other Mindanaoan artists, will hold a public doodling event today, August 26, 2009, in front of Spruce, Limketkai Mall, Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao. This is one "vandalism but with consent" event you might not want to miss! :) The artists will doodle (a form of sketching) for two days and the finished product will be showcased at Spruce. What happened late last Saturday night at a 24 hour fastfood store located at Divisoria, Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao reminded me of so many things --- two of which are the need for Mindanaoans to be more assertive and why I love Mindanao (and why it will always be home for me). Before I go any further, however, I would just like to emphasize that the following are just my personal opinions and are not meant to hit anyone. During my PAL Express flight from the Cebu International Airport, Mactan to Cagayan de Oro Domestic Airport, I took some aerial shots. I got a window seat at that time (I was also supposed to have a window seat during my PAL Express CDO to Cebu flight but my seatmate, an elderly woman who confessed that it's been so long since she last traveled by plane, looked pale and scared so I no longer insisted) so it was easy for me to take aerial shots of Cagayan de Oro City as our plane descended and prepared for landing. Here are the photos Mindanaoan (me!) took during the recent Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao leg of the Register and Vote (RV) Campaign - specifically during the two students fora held at the Mindanao University of Science and Technology and Cagayan de Oro College - both Cagayan de Oro City schools. Mindanaoan was privileged enough to have accompanied the Team Kiko group last July 30, 2009. "Maalaala Mo Kaya," a drama anthology program aired via ABS-CBN Channel 2, will visit Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao! On August 7 to 9, 2009 at the Limketkai Mall in CDO, the staff of ABS-CBN's "Maalaala Mo Kaya" will be on hand to accept letters and stories from the public. Selected stories may then be featured in future "Maalaala Mo Kaya" episodes. The stories and letters will be accepted during mall hours. Will a Mindanaoan's story be the next to be featured in MMK? Aboard PAL Express flight Cagayan de Oro to Cebu City

Meeting the CDO Bloggers group

MINDANAO - I'm currently in Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao and just got back from a pretty fruitful meeting with some of the members of the CDO Bloggers group. Mindanaoan joined their regular officers' meeting and pitched in some of my thoughts for the upcoming Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3, which will be held in Cagayan de Oro City come October 24, 2009.
