I have said it time and again. Camiguin Island remains to be one of my super favorite destinations in the Philippines. Camiguin is like a refuge – where I can enjoy peace, quiet, sun, sand, sea, surf. And recently, whenever I’m in the Island Born of Fire, I stay at HillTop Camiguin!
HillTop Camiguin is a mansion nestled on a hill in Barangay Agoho overlooking the world-famous White Island. It now offers a few rooms for people to stay in and have a different kind of Camiguin experience β away from the usual hotel/resort vibe. The prices are very affordable β prices start at Php 1,750 only (already good for two and inclusive of breakfast). (Related: Book your HillTop Camiguin room now)
Each room, which is good for two, comes with a king sized bed, jaw droppingly spacious (trust me on this!) ensuite bathroom with hot and cold shower and large rain shower heads as well as great pillows and clean sheets for that restful sleep.
You will also be treated to generous breakfast for two. When I stayed there, I had two eggs, bacon, toasted french bread (my companions had rice) and brewed coffee. It was just the perfect way to kickstart a busy day touring the island. You may either opt to eat at the gazebo or at a table in the middle of the garden while overlooking White Island. Fair warning, though. You might fall in love with the view so much and tend to dilly dally!
The owners of HillTop Camiguin, Oliver and Roxanne, are known to welcome their guests with only the friendliest, most sincere service there is. They can help arrange motorcycle or multicab rentals, suggest tourist spots to visit or restaurants you can go to.

By the way, donβt miss out on the chance to sit on a chair in the middle of the HillTop Camiguin garden at night and just be with the stars. When I was there, I spotted the Milky Way and was in awe of the jet streams! I actually miss the cool evening breeze. Canβt wait to go back!
HillTop Camiguin is 5 minutes away from the airport and about 20 minutes from Benoni Port.

We stayed here a couple of months ago and the points made here are mainly why we chose Hilltop. What is left out is why we’d not return, mainly that Hilltop is very isolated and quite hard to get to unless you are a motorbike expert. We felt very lucky to reach the home each day as the ride was treacherous in spots and coming at night was dangerous. We felt that we had to leave the place for just about everything so despite some of the positives, it was just too far from what the things we wanted to do in camiguin. And while the room was large, it felt empty. not homey at all. We came to conclude the rate was as reasonable as it was for these reasons. For those on small to mid size budgets who value space and don’t mind isolation, it’s a good choice but even in that category, I would prefer Nypa over Hilltop, which is where we moved to eventually.
Hi, KL! Thanks for dropping by π In my case, I find Nypa too expensive and isolated as well. I’ll probably check them out the next time I visit the island. Let’s see if there are improvements! π I have stayed in many Camiguin hotels, most of them have their own pools and are near the shore. There are instances when I just need peace and quiet – away from all the hustle and bustle. I ride a motorela each and every time I go to and fro Hilltop. Very safe and the driver is the Hilltop’s owner’s neighbor. So somehow I feel happy that I can help the community. As for the “empty” rooms – Hilltop, as far as I understand, just started offering homestay. The owner has lots of good plans for the property. Let’s wait and see!
Hi π do you have a contact number of the owners of this hotel?
Hi, Rita! Yes. Please feel free to email me π
