Boxing coach Freddie Roach: Manny Pacquiao is broke

Commentary, General Santos City, Headline, Mindanaoan Artists, Mindanaoan Update, News, Opinion, Personalities, Politics, Sarangani, Society, SoSCksargen, Sports, Weird
Freddie Roach, the longtime coach of Filipino boxing champ and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao, shocked a lot of people when he allegedly said downright that the world boxing champion is broke. Yup, as in broke, wala nay kuwarta, no more money, wala nang pera. Freddie Roach's statement baffled a lot of people and not a few expressed their doubts. After all, didn't Manny Pacquiao just buy a multi-million mansion at Forbes Park? Doesn't he give millions away in his GMA 7 show "Manny Many Prizes"? Doesn't he and wife Jinkee Pacquiao have a lot of businesses not only in General Santos City, Sarangani, Davao City but even in Manila as well? Is it really possible that Manny Pacquiao, whose latest guaranteed purse from the bout with Shane Mosley last May 2011 was a staggering US 20 Million, i...

The world's number 1 pound for pound boxing king Manny Pacquiao is set to wear a pair of yellow gloves come Pacquiao versus Mosley fight night to show support for Gawad Kalinga. Gawad Kalinga or GK is an organization that has built at least 50,000 homes in the Philippines, has tens of thousands of volunteers all over the country and has successfully housed over 500,000 people for low-cost housing. Accordingly, my fellow Mindanaoan Manny Pacquiao will wear yellow gloves “to represent movement and hope.” The top Filipino boxer and current Sarangani, Mindanao representative is also asking everyone to wear yellow during the Manny Pacquiao vs Sugar Shane Mosley fight this weekend. The Manny Pacquiao versus Shane Mosley fight will be held at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 7, 2011 (M...

Cute Manny Pacquiao and Mommy Dionisia Pacquiao commercial!

Arts, Bisaya, Blogging, Bukidnon, Davao City, Features, General Santos City, Mindanaoan Artists, Mindanaoan Update, Personalities, Sarangani, Society
Fellow Mindanaoans Manny Pacquiao and his very own Mum, Mommy Dionisia Pacquiao, have a new, super cute Datu Puti TV commercial! I like the play on the "bumili ka lang ng suka, champion ka na" statement :D Of course, the quotable quote in this TVC is also Manny Pacquiao's "boxing is not for killing." :P In this Datu Puti Manny Pacquiao TVC, a guy who's supposedly playing the role of Coach Freddie (Roach, the Pacman's real-life boxing coach) tells the "true story" behind the Pacman's road to success. Well, of course it's not the real story but this commercial is really funny and clever :) Props to the agency behind this cool Manny Pacquiao TV commercial! By the way, just in case you don't know how Manny Pacquiao and I are fellow Mindanaoans, check this out: (more…)

PacMan: Behind the Scenes with Manny Pacquiao

Bisaya, Blogging, Features, General Santos City, Humor, Mindanaoan Artists, Mindanaoan Update, Personalities, Politics, Reviews, Sarangani, SoSCksargen, Sports
Many say that one will either extremely love or extremely hate this new biography about my fellow Mindanaoan, Manny Pacquiao. For fellow fans of the world's best pound for pound boxer and now Sarangani Mindanao congressman who haven't had the chance to read this new PacMan: Behind The Scenes With Manny Pacquiao book, I'm hoping that I will at least like it and not curse the book's author, Gary Andrew Poole. Because you see, while most of the "expert reviewers" say that this is a good read, many also say that it's poorly edited, contains unverified and even stupid material and reveals things about Pacquiao and the rest of Team Pacquiao that can, accordingly, "stain his good name." Before we talk about the nega stuff, though, let's consider some of the "good reviews." Scoop Malinows...

Pacquiao – Margarito fight replay videos

Bisaya, Entertainment, Events, Features, General Santos City, Headline, Mindanaoan Artists, Mindanaoan Update, News, Personalities, Sarangani, SoSCksargen, South Cotabato, Videos
Of course, by now you know that fellow Mindanaoan Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao captured his 8th title - World Light Middleweight - and has undoubtedly carved his name in boxing history. The Pacquiao versus Margarito fight last November 13, 2010 at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium was indeed one exciting fight, yes? Antonio Margarito, who reportedly had to undergo facial surgery after the boxing championship bout, displayed courage, will and sheer determination and I bet all Filipinos appreciated that. Sarangani, Mindanao's very own congressman, Manny Pacquiao, on the other hand, displayed nothing but enviable, world-class boxing skills. Congratulations, Congressman Manny Pacquiao! I'm super proud of you! Thank you for uplifting the Filipino name and spirit once again! Congratulations to coach Fred...

As expected, this will be another day when Filipinos all around the world will root for our very own Pacman. I bet all Mindanaoans will again feel so proud of Manny Pacquiao, who was born in Kibawe, Bukidnon but who has lived in both General Santos City and Sarangani for several years. For sure, this Pacquiao vs Margarito boxing bout will be another blockbuster! I must admit, I have a few reservations about this Pacquio versus Margarito fight. (more…)

Fellow Mindanaoan and the world's best pound for pound boxing champ Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao has defeated Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto just a few minutes ago. Pacquiao won against Cotto on the 12th round via TKO. The boxing referee had to stop the fight with only 55 seconds remaining in the 12th round. Filipino boxing champ Pacquiao, who now has 7 boxing titles, has successfully grabbed the World Boxing Organization welterweight boxing title. The Pacquiao versus Cotto fight took place Saturday night at MGM Grand Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. During the fight, Cotto was knocked down twice and his ears, nose and most of his face got bloodied. Congratulations Manny Pacquiao! The world, especially the Philippines, is truly proud of you!

Another Mindanaoan is a big boxing star! Marvelous Marvin Sonsona of General Santos – video inside

Cotabato, Features, General Santos City, Headline, Mindanaoan Update, News, Personalities, SoSCksargen, South Cotabato, Sports
Mindanaoan gani, lahi ra gyud! :D Another Mindanaoan boxer is the current toast of the boxing world! General Santos City native Marvin "Marvelous" Sonsona recently defeated veteran Jose Lopez in a fight in Canada. Ang get this --- Marvelous Marvin Sonsona is just 19 years old! Wow! Which reminds me...Perhaps Marvin should reconsider his boxer name and change it to Marvelous Mindanaoan Marvin Sonsona! Hehe :D Lopez is said to be undefeated for 6 years. Unfortunately for him, a Mindanao boxer took up the challenge and...well...the world now knows who's better ;) Sonsona, who boxing experts say has powerful southpaw stance, fought in the junior bantamweight division. He defeated Jose Lopez via decision. AYOS! Found this video, by the way, courtesy of Queensberry Rules (check out m...

Nicole Scherzinger of Pussycat Dolls and wrestler Batista are a no go for Mindanaoan Manny Pacquiao’s “Wapakman”

Announcements, Entertainment, Mindanaoan Update, Movies
Too bad for people who want to watch Mindanaoan superstar boxer Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao share the silver screen with Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger (a Filipino-American-German). Solar Films’ Wilson Tieng has confirmed that Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger has dropped out of Manny Pacquiao’s Metro Manila Film Fest entry, “Wapakman.” Sayang! That could've been a great movie to watch...just imagine our fellow Mindanaoan Manny Pacquiao squaring it off with Nicole! Also, Tieng has confirmed that Fil-Am wrestler Dave "Batista" Bautista will also not be in the movie. I'm not too sure if this Topel Lee-helmed movie has started shooting already. In any case, I still hope that Filipinos will still watch "Wapakman" even though Batista and Nicole aren't part of it anymore. Here's the tra...
