Freddie Roach, the longtime coach of Filipino boxing champ and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao, shocked a lot of people when he allegedly said downright that the world boxing champion is broke. Yup, as in broke, wala nay kuwarta, no more money, wala nang pera.
Freddie Roach's statement baffled a lot of people and not a few expressed their doubts. After all, didn't Manny Pacquiao just buy a multi-million mansion at Forbes Park? Doesn't he give millions away in his GMA 7 show "Manny Many Prizes"? Doesn't he and wife Jinkee Pacquiao have a lot of businesses not only in General Santos City, Sarangani, Davao City but even in Manila as well?
Is it really possible that Manny Pacquiao, whose latest guaranteed purse from the bout with Shane Mosley last May 2011 was a staggering US 20 Million, i...
Former world boxing champion Oscar De La Hoya has apologized to Manny Pacquiao, current world boxing champion, world's best pound for pound boxer and congressman representing the lone district of Sarangani, Mindanao.
This Oscar De La Hoya apology, which I personally followed via Twitter, comes after Top Rank CEO Bob Arum reportedly said that if only De La Hoya and Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions merely extended their apologies to Manny Pacquiao, the Mindanaoan boxer may just consider recalling the defamation case he filed against them.
Arum was once quoted as saying that if Oscar dela Hoya and Schaefer want to withdraw the defamation lawsuit filed against them by Pacquiao, they just had to extend their sincerest apologies.
And now, Oscar De La Hoya has made the first mov...
Who isn't excited about the upcoming Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley fight? I'm pretty sure that my fellow Filipinos are not the only ones who are looking forward to this Manny Pacquiao versus Sugar Shane Mosley fight for the 2011 World Welterweight Championship belt. Bet the rest of the world is also eager to know who will reign supreme in this boxing match. I also think that a lot are looking forward to the Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley fight livestream! The Pacquiao vs Mosley fight will be held on May 7, 2011 (May 8, 2011 Manila time) at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Are YOU as excited as I am? :)
Manny Pacquiao, as many of you may already know, is a fellow Mindanaoan. He was born in Kibawe, Bukidnon, Mindanao but his family later moved to Davao City then General Santos C...
Fellow Mindanaoans Manny Pacquiao and his very own Mum, Mommy Dionisia Pacquiao, have a new, super cute Datu Puti TV commercial! I like the play on the "bumili ka lang ng suka, champion ka na" statement :D Of course, the quotable quote in this TVC is also Manny Pacquiao's "boxing is not for killing." :P
In this Datu Puti Manny Pacquiao TVC, a guy who's supposedly playing the role of Coach Freddie (Roach, the Pacman's real-life boxing coach) tells the "true story" behind the Pacman's road to success. Well, of course it's not the real story but this commercial is really funny and clever :) Props to the agency behind this cool Manny Pacquiao TV commercial!
By the way, just in case you don't know how Manny Pacquiao and I are fellow Mindanaoans, check this out:
Of course, by now you know that fellow Mindanaoan Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao captured his 8th title - World Light Middleweight - and has undoubtedly carved his name in boxing history. The Pacquiao versus Margarito fight last November 13, 2010 at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium was indeed one exciting fight, yes? Antonio Margarito, who reportedly had to undergo facial surgery after the boxing championship bout, displayed courage, will and sheer determination and I bet all Filipinos appreciated that. Sarangani, Mindanao's very own congressman, Manny Pacquiao, on the other hand, displayed nothing but enviable, world-class boxing skills.
Congratulations, Congressman Manny Pacquiao! I'm super proud of you! Thank you for uplifting the Filipino name and spirit once again! Congratulations to coach Fred...
Fellow Mindanaoan and world boxing champ Manny Pacquiao is back on the cover of TIME magazine. An article about his rise, fame and everything else in between can also be found in this most recent TIME magazine article about this Filipino boxer and the best pound for pound boxer so far.
Check out wifey Jinkee's name on his arm! :)
Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao is set to face Puerto Rico's Miguel Cotto on November 14, 2009 at MGM Las Vegas, Nevada. If he wins, this will be Manny's 7th worth title in different weight classes.
Which reminds me...where will you watch this Pacquiao vs Cotto fight?
Just in case you missed the Pacman's guesting on the late night talk show Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!, check this out.
Hollywood star, HBO "Entourage" producer and former rapper Mark Wahlberg loves a fellow Mindanaoan, too! This picture clearly shows just how big a fan of Filipino boxing champ Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao Mark Wahlberg is!
Check out the print on Mark's shirt: "Pacman Knows"
This isn't the first time I've seen Mark openly support the Pambansang Kamao, though. I've spotted him on TV doing the red carpet along with Pacquiao.
Mindanaoan gani, lahi ra gyud! :D Another Mindanaoan boxer is the current toast of the boxing world! General Santos City native Marvin "Marvelous" Sonsona recently defeated veteran Jose Lopez in a fight in Canada. Ang get this --- Marvelous Marvin Sonsona is just 19 years old! Wow! Which reminds me...Perhaps Marvin should reconsider his boxer name and change it to Marvelous Mindanaoan Marvin Sonsona! Hehe :D
Lopez is said to be undefeated for 6 years. Unfortunately for him, a Mindanao boxer took up the challenge and...well...the world now knows who's better ;)
Sonsona, who boxing experts say has powerful southpaw stance, fought in the junior bantamweight division. He defeated Jose Lopez via decision.

Who's looking forward to the upcoming Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao - Oscar "The Golden Boy" De La Hoya bout as much as my family and I am? Can't wait to watch the exchange of jabs, hooks and upper cuts on December 6, 2008. The event, which will be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, is dubbed the boxing match of the year! Do you think Oscar will win or will the Kibawe, Bukidnon-born Pacman deliver a knockout?
Anyways, as we all know, HBO Pay Per View (PPV) will carry the bout on December 6, 2008. So now I'm a bit confused as to whether or not I should avail of the PPV. The local cable company here in my area is offering its subscribers the PPV service for P700.00 (roughly US$15.50) If I pay on or before November 30, 2008, I only need to shell out P600.00 (roughly US$13.33)
Now the big que...
