I first wrote about The Oak Room CDO a few weeks back. That post got shared by hundreds of people – proof that the idea of a whisky bar that also has an amazing selection of vodka, tequila, brandy, cognac, scotch, champagne and many more in the middle of bustling Cagayan de Oro is what people have been waiting for.
Together with my blogger friends Mike of CDO Places and Vic of Wow CDO (who also happen to be my co-founders of business group Hatch Mastermind), I attended the grand opening of The Oak Room CDO.
Located within the compound of The Nest along Corrales Avenue, The Oak Room Cagayan de Oro is a cozy, comfortable gentleman’s lounge that has an unparalleled whisky collection.
From Ballantine to Famous Grouse to Jameson to Maker’s Mark to the likes of Johnnie Walker, Chivas Regal, Jack Daniel’s and Jim Beam – customers will have easy access to quality brands.
Also among the brands that they carry are Dalmore, Highland Park, Glenfiddich, Macallan, Remy Martin, Hennessy, Patron Anejo and many more.
We started with one of The Oak Room CDO’s bestsellers – whisky sour. This one’s really good, trust me!
Actually, I tweeted about my drinks that night and no less than Senator Sonny Angara “liked” and retweeted my post! (We follow each other on Twitter – yup, we’re friends! Naks 😀 ) Then he replied with a mug of beer emoticon. Pretty cool 🙂
If you love Japanese and Taiwanese drinks like Hakushu, Hibiki, Yamazaki and the Kavalan 40% single malt whisky, then you’ll definitely love The Oak Room. They have stocks!
I recommend the Yamazaki. I haven’t tried drinking it straight but I’ve had it with club soda before and it really was the bomb. You can also try it with just ice and water.

For imported beers, they serve Blue Moon, Corona Extra, Heineken, Hitachino Nest White Ale, Hoegaarden, Stella Artois and more.

My friends and I went home happy and a little buzzed! But hey that was a Friday and just like what Senator Sonny Angara said, “What are Fridays for?”
