Stressed? Here are two simulation games I highly recommend

The past few months have been absolutely stressful for me. From seemingly endless tasks to work deadlines to everyday digital noise, finding time to relax and just free my mind from all anxiety has actually become a necessity. This year started off pretty wild – I got involved in the national elections and also handled several local candidates. Nowadays, I’m busier with my businesses and I am planning to start another one! And that’s why relaxing and freeing my mind (even for a few minutes) from all worries is something I value.

For me, one surprisingly effective way to unwind and even learn something valuable is through online simulation games. Games like Cooking Mania and Coffee Shop are not just fun distractions; they offer meaningful mental breaks that reduce stress while subtly teaching life and business skills. These two games are the kinds I enjoy a lot because not only do I like strategy and time management, I also like implementing life and business skills even in leisure stuff like online simulation games.

Cooking Mania is a lunch truck restaurant simulation game that captures the joy of managing a fast-paced food stall without the real-life chaos. The mechanics are simple – you look at each customer’s thought bubble to see what they want, cook the burger perfectly (without overcooking it, of course), add cheese if needed, and serve drinks to complete their order. Each customer has a frustration meter, so serving them quickly earns you a higher rating – up to three stars per stage. As you progress, you can use your earnings to upgrade your kitchen equipment, unlocking more restaurants where you’ll serve not just burgers but also fish and steaks.

I enjoyed playing Cooking Mania a lot because it encourages quick decision-making and time management. The simple satisfaction of completing orders offers a gentle dopamine boost and is something that can help ease mental fatigue and anxiety after a long day.

Pro tip: upgrade your kitchen equipment as soon as you garner enough coins! I used to “save” my coins but that didn’t help me LOL

Meanwhile, Coffee Shop takes relaxation and learning a step further. I highly recommend this game for would-be and existing coffee shop owners! I truly enjoyed playing it because it exercised my business and strategy skills. Coffee Shop is a business simulation game where players run a coffee shop, adjusting everything from pricing and inventory to coffee recipes and daily strategy. Players must budget their cash flow, manage ingredients like coffee, milk, sugar, and cups, and anticipate customer demand based on weather conditions (because coffee sells better on cold days!)

Now don’t think this online simulation game sounds too formal. It’s fun, I promise! The game introduces real-world business concepts such as pricing strategy, inventory management, and predicting consumer behavior. It even allows players to read customer feedback and make smart adjustments.

Together, Cooking Mania and Coffee Shop remind us that gaming can be both fun and beneficial. They give our minds a chance to recharge while enhancing focus, strategy, and decision-making skills. So, the next time you feel overwhelmed, try running a virtual kitchen or coffee shop instead. Sometimes, the best way to relax is to play!
