Why Texas Is Still America’s Best Real Estate Market

The U.S. housing market regained its momentum earlier this year, with half of all the homes in the nation worth as much or more than they were a little over a decade ago. It remains a seller’s market out there, but there still exists places where homes prices have never been lower. Where does such a strange place exist: only in Texas.
El Paso

Of the homes for sale in El Paso, the average price is just $186,611. In a news release, city officials credited strong job growth, low vacancy rates, affordability, a higher population of young households and the vibrant culture as the factors in its strong ranking. There’s also many outdoor activities available, including a thriving artist community, farmers market and delicious Tex-Mex cuisine.
San Antonio

San Antonio has continued to showcase many of the reasons the Lone Star State is one of America’s hottest real estate markets. It remains more affordable than most other major markets, with the average listing price at $293,448, and 65 percent of the population homeowners. The city is also ripe with job opportunities, with a diverse mix of potential employers, from the city and military to both public and private businesses as well as the school districts. Homeownership is expected to outpace renting for the indefinite future, with all of these trends expected to continue in 2018 and beyond.

San Antonio residents also get to enjoy centuries of history, the famous river walk and being just a short drive away from picturesque Hill Country.
Fort Worth

The Dallas-Fort Worth area is predicted to be one of 2018’s top home markets. Fort Worth itself has a high percentage of homeowners at 68 percent, and many major employers, like Lockheed Martin and American Airlines. With seven new entertainment districts, don’t count Fort Worth out as another city ready for a millennial makeover.
Austin

Millennials have been moving here in droves, and there’s good reason why. Considered one of the hippest cities in the nation, home prices don’t matter when people come for the education, live music, burgeoning food scene, and excellent employment opportunities Austin has to offer. Austin real estate is still rated as one of the hottest markets in the US.
