What Sunburst Fried Chicken CDO needs

My family and I like dining out. We have favorite restaurants – one of which is Sunburst Fried Chicken.

We’ve been fans of the brand for so long – I remember first trying their famous fried chicken back in the 80’s! Since then, my family and I frequently patronize Sunburst. Even when we’re traveling and we see a Sunburst branch in that city, more often than not, we make sure we visit that, too.

My family and I even have favorite orders – Sunduo (2 piece chicken), extra rice, extra coleslaw, pansit molo and their popular Chick N Crackers. Sometimes I also order the fried livers. Whenever we’re at Sunburst, walang diet!

And so because we like the food at Sunburst Fried Chicken, we somehow expect that the people who prepare it are also in good spirits as they work, right?

Well, maybe not.

Several afternoons ago, I was at Sunburst Limketkai Cagayan de Oro to order takeout. While I waited, I saw something quite odd. A male employee just casually lied down AND SLEPT on one of the long chairs/couches near the washroom area. See that bended knee propped up on the green chair?

Here’s a closer look:

At first, I thought it was a customer. When I asked the female cashier, though, she confirmed that he was an employee and that he slept there because, apparently, that Sunburst CDO branch did not have an employees quarters. The cashier tried to explain to me that tired employees had no choice but to sleep there.

Can you also see the male cook who stood near him?

I kindly told the female cashier that while I didn’t mind seeing the sleeping employee, other customers might get bothered and confused. I mean, after all, it was a restaurant and the last thing you’d want to see is a sleeping employee, with his feet on the very same chair that paying customers use. Mind you, I wasn’t the only customer that time. There were customers at about 5 tables.

To the management of Sunburst Limketkai – that is the one thing you need. A proper place where your hardworking employees can rest.

Allow me to emphasize — This post isn’t to demean the employee. God knows how tired he must really have been. This post isn’t also to hit Sunburst because I’m pretty sure my family and I will still be among your regular patrons. This is to hopefully bridge the employees’ concerns to the management. Discuss ninyo to, guys 🙂 Happy employees mean happy customer service and good food!
