Typhoon Sendong (international name: Washi) claimed thousands of lives, left tens of thousands of homes damaged (some damaged beyond repair, some totally wiped out) and basically left so much destruction in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan – two cities in Northern Mindanao, Philippines. Both cities are still trying to cope – so much still needs to be done. Still, I’m happy to share with you all that amid ongoing relief and rehabilitation operations, there also are movements from various sectors of society to REBUILD both cities.
In Cagayan de Oro City in particular, there’s a movement called “Barog, Kagay-anon” (Move, Kagay-anon), a series of activities that aims to revive CDO tourism. Tourism, after all, can do wonders for a city. We all know that the more tourists, the better the economy and the more tourists, the faster CDO and Iligan rise above the ashes, so to speak.
This Mindanao blogger was invited to join the movement and participate in the various tourism-related events. I also brought along with me fellow Mindanawan bloggers and social media enthusiasts. We comprised the online media group 🙂 And so for 3 days, we all experienced the beauty and excitement that is CDO! Starting today, please watch out for my series of “Barog, Kagay-anon” related blog entries here on Mindanaoan.com
For my opening salvo of sorts, allow me to introduce you to one of the newest things you can do at Dahilayan (which is about an hour away from CDO) — presenting the 360 degree kicking swing!
Think you can handle this 360 degree kicking swing? This one is located at Saddle Ridge Camp, Dahilayan – just a few feet away from Dahilayan Adventure Park – the home of Asia’s longest dual cable zipline!
For only Php 100.00 (about US $2.50), you can try the kicking swing at Saddle Ridge Camp. By the way, it’s all a DIY affair here, folks! You manage all this adrenaline pumping challenge on your own! Check this out:
