During my most recent trip to Manila, three very good friends and I finally had the chance to visit the Ayala Triangle Gardens, Makati branch of Bonchon Chicken. Now if you haven’t heard of BonChon, this below might give you an idea of what you’re supposed to expect: (yes, that’s from the New York Times!)
BonChon chicken is supposedly one of, if not the best, tasting chicken you can ever taste in your lifetime. And I must say, after that early dinner with friends, I can only agree 110%!
Here’s why…
BonChon uses the Korean style of frying chicken and get this – it fries the chicken TWICE. Yup, you read that right. Don’t you worry, though, because accordingly, this technique of frying the chicken twice will result in the separation of chicken fat from the skin. So that’s, well, a leaner, “healthier” fried chicken.
Here are some of the photos I took at Bonchon Chicken Ayala Triangle:
I ordered the Bonchon Original Chicken wings. My small order, priced at P185.00, consisted of 6 chicken wings (see photo below). I also opted for the soy garlic chicken wings. The one I ordered didn’t have rice, though, and was actually good for two. For those fond of extra spice, there’s also the hot and spicy option. BonChon Chicken also sells drumsticks, chicken chops and wings plus drumsticks set.
They also have value meals (priced at P135, P145). Rice and drink are already included in these value meals.
I know the photo shows greasy looking chicken but believe me, they didn’t taste nor feel greasy at all. What’s also great about Bonchon is that their chicken products contain zero transfat – which means, again, theirs are “leaner, healthier” chicken.
Bonchon chicken is crispy and flavorful. So flavorful and so good that I have a feeling people can actually eat more than 6 pieces in one sitting! Methinks a lot of people order takeouts and actually pig out at home 😀

Wow. Ayala Triangle Garden is near the building where I currently trained. I’m gonna try their chicken one of these days. 🙂
Hi Claire! Super sarap, I tell you! Hehe 🙂 Let me know if na-try mo na and what your verdict is ha 😉
Chicken wings tasted ok but it was extraordinarily crispy. 🙂 Liked Soy Garlic more than the spicy ones.
Hi Dian! I super agree on the “extraordinarily crispy” description 😀
My friend who ate there the other day saw A LIVE WORM in his chicken sandwich. They returned his money P145, and said he could just buy another meal intstead. So much for good customer service. Its a live worm chicken bon chon! Not a pc of hair.
WHAT?!?! OMG that’s not right!!!
