Because my first Make Your Own Havaianas experience last year was absolutely fun, I eagerly awaited the Make Your Own Havaianas 2010 event this year. Plus methinks the pair I meticulously “designed” last year badly needs a “hiatus” especially since I’ve been lugging it all around the country. Yep, it’s a “well-traveled” pair – having been brought to various places in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. You see, my first MYOH pair was a staple in my traveling bag during the campaign period (May 2010 national elections) and I guess it’s about time that I give it its much-deserved “rest.”
So just imagine my excitement when I once again received an ultra special VIP invite from our very special friends over at Spruce, the exclusive distributor of Havaianas in northern and western Mindanao. Who could resist the chance to once again assemble my very special, personalized Havaianas? DIZIZIT!!! ๐
What’s also exciting about this year’s MYOH 2010 is the fact that it’s the 5th Year of Make Your Own Havaianas – yes, 5 beautiful, colorful years of customization (!) – and to commemorate such a milestone, there’s a commemorative sole and commemorative pin. There are also more choices this year – there are fluorescent straps, jelly straps, glow-in-the-dark straps, fun and colorful soles, crystal studded pins and silver letter pins!
Is your heart beating fast yet?
So what happens during a Make Your Own Havaianas event?
First, you look for this specially designed roulette/wheel. You can match your preferred sole and strap using this nifty wheel. The available pins can also be found there.
Next, a friendly MYOH team member will give you a form where you indicate your chosen sole, strap and pin/s.
And once you’ve really REALLY made up your mind (I changed my choices at least 3 times and I had to go to and fro the wheel and check if I made the right choice LOL…it was like Sophie’s Choice for Havaianaticos, seriously!), you then proceed to an area that looks like this:
I call this place – “where the magic really begins” ๐
As soon as my pair was done, I then proceeded to the cashier to claim my Havaianas MYOH 2010 bag.
I super love my Make Your Own Havaianas 2010 masterpiece!

cool! I haven’t worn out any of my pairs, though the footbeds absorb too much water & it makes them “slippery’ to wear sometimes.
@Thomas – Havaianas are absolutely durable!
