Did you know that apart from the Vatican, the Philippines is the only remaining country in the whole world that continues to ban divorce? Before May 2011, there were two other countries - the Philippines and Malta, also a predominantly Catholic country like ours. However, Malta legalized divorce via a referendum last May 2011 and that only leaves us Pinoys who live in a country that still does not have divorce (although strictly speaking this is not entirely true since the Muslim community in the Philippines recognizes divorce).
