In the midst of so many challenges this year 2020, I'm so glad that several Mindanao youth groups have taken the initiative to address gaps in social services and collaborated with local government units and NGOs to develop projects that prioritized the survival, health, and livelihood of many of our fellow Filipinos. Here is a list of Mindanaoan youth groups that showed bayanihan during the quarantine: Tabang Sikad Tabang Sikad is a fund-raising initiative for sikad drivers from several barangays in Cagayan de Oro City. TAYO Awards 2013 application period extended

Advocacy
Good news to all youth organizations in the Philippines! The organizers of the annual Search of Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) Awards are extending the deadline of applications to August 15, 2013! So if you belong to a youth organization in the Philippines, urge your officers to apply now to the 11th TAYO Awards. The search grants Php 50,000 to the 10 organizations to be named winners at the National Finals. Last year, I served as one of the Mindanao Area Finals judges (TAYO Awards 10 or TAYO Awards 2012). I met truly inspiring young, socially aware Filipinos last year :) Take note that representatives from all over the Philippines are flown and housed for free to the venues of the Area and National Finals. Through the course of the search, representatives are tra...

Three youth groups in Mindanao were just declared as part of the winners list in this year's Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) Awards 2012. I CAN Make A Difference (Zamboanga), Monte Verde 4-H Club (Zamboanga) and Dire Husi Initiatives (Cagayan de Oro) were among the 2012 TAYO Awards winners. Representatives of each Mindanaoan youth group were at the Heroes Hall in Malacanang today, December 6, 2012, to personally receive their specially-designed trophies plus cash prize from President Benigno Aquino III. I'm familiar with these 3 Mindanao youth groups because about two months ago, I was one of the judges of the Mindanao Area Finals of the TAYO Awards 2012 :) You can read the brief profiles of I CAN Make A Difference, Monte Verde 4-H Club and Dire Husi Initiatives in this blog p...
