Paradise Island Resort Samal Island

I did a “wala lang” weekend trip to Davao City, Mindanao a few days ago. I just wanted to go to the beach and not think about my business, clients, contracts and everything else. I just needed to feel the warmth of the sun on my skin, I wanted to feel the sand in between my toes, I wanted to breathe fresh air, I wanted to swim…I just needed to be at the beach again. I felt that, after months of working so hard, I badly needed an escape…at least for the weekend.

I wanted a quick, no-nonsense trip and for this I thought of revisiting one of my family’s long-time favorite tourist destinations at the Island Garden City of SamalParadise Island Park and Beach Resort.

Paradise Island Samal is perhaps the largest beach resort in the IGACOS (Island Garden City of Samal) area. With a shoreline of almost 800 meters, very reasonable rates and the fact that it’s just a few minutes away from the city proper, this resort is a longtime favorite of Dabawenyos and tourists alike. I’ll tell you how you can get to Paradise Island after the jump.

As you can see from the photo I took above, the rates are pretty cheap. Day tour only costs P100.00 each. This already entitles you to entrance to the resort and to a table with benches. Now, should you want to stay along the beach overnight, you just need to pay P250.00. However, should you need a room, Paradise Island Beach Resort also offers various types of rooms. Rates start at around P2,000. They also have function rooms.

What’s also great about Paradise Island is that the prices of the food aren’t very expensive. Hence, it’s better if you just order from their restaurant rather than bring food and then pay corkage fees.

But siyempre the star of the resort is the beach – clear water, free from jellyfish and rubbish and you can even see the fish! Check out the photo I took after the jump.

And don’t worry, the fish at the bottom part of the photo is just a mini fountain 😀

See the blue tents? The restaurant, tables, lounge chairs and benches can be found there. So as you can see, the white sandy beach is just a few steps away.

If you’re not in the mood to swim, Paradise Island has a lot of amenities that can interest both the young and the young at heart. I bought Haagen Dazs at the resort’s Ice Cream Kiosk and cold drinks from the Tinda’an. They also have an aviary, spa/massage area, children’s playground and park.

So yup, Paradise Island Davao sure is family friendly.

I only stayed the whole day at Paradise Island but it was enough to recharge my energies.

It was good to be one with nature again.
