The death of a loved one not only brings immense grief to a family but also creates financial burdens and daily needs that must be addressed. During these difficult times, the last thing grieving families should worry about is where their next meal will come from.
Recognizing this need, neophyte Councilor Kid Agduma of the Municipality of Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat, launched a rice assistance program for bereaved families – a simple yet very meaningful initiative aimed at providing practical help especially to mourning families. The program is designed to be accessible and straightforward for families dealing with grief.
Fast fact: Kid Agduma bagged the #1 spot out of all the councilors who ran in the 2025 elections. He garnered 56.36% of the total votes, and he’s the only candidate who crossed the 50% mark.
For families to avail of one (1) sack of rice, they just need to obtain a Certified True Copy of Certificate of Death from the Municipal Civil Registry. The said document must be obtained within 10 days after death. Interested program applicants can just visit the Sangguniang Bayan and consult with Councilor Kid Agduma’s staff.
This type of program demonstrates how local government should function – responsive, compassionate, and focused on the basic needs of citizens. Councilor Agduma, despite being new to his position, is already showing wise leadership by focusing on practical solutions.
