Where to eat in CDO: Alavar’s Seafood Restaurant

If you’ve been to Zamboanga City, Mindanao, have dropped by popular Alavar’s Seafood Restaurant and have tried their extraordinary Alavar sauce, then you’d understand why I just had to visit their latest branch – their second in Cagayan de Oro.

Located at the Cucina de Oro Compound, Limketkai Drive, Alavar’s Seafood and Grill CDO is owned by the very same folks in Zamboanga. The first branch of Alavar’s CDO is located along Aluba Road, Macasandig and just a few weeks ago, they opened their branch downtown. Alavar’s CDO Limketkai branch is a lot more accessible since it’s just a few moments away from Limketkai Mall.

Alavar’s is best known for its sauce which goes best with rice and various seafood dishes. Because of the popularity of the sauce, Alavar’s now sells them in bottles and those are perfect for pasalubong or for cooking at home.

Alavar’s CDO offers curacha, shrimps, crabs and of course, their generous serving of Alavar’s Seafood Rice. Just how generous? You can see a photo below!

Clam soup. Clear broth, really meaty clams. It was a little bland to my liking but nothing a dash of pepper can’t fix! 🙂

Crispy shrimps. I’m a big seafood lover and I can safely say that I didn’t commit a mistake ordering this one.

This one’s the famous Alavar’s seafood rice. Very tasty and a steal for only Php 120. Tip: You can actually share this!

Check out the Alavar menu. As you can see, the prices are affordable 🙂

Will I be back soon? You can bet on that!

How to go to Alavar CDO restaurant: If you’re taking a taxi, just tell the driver to take you to Cucina de Oro along Limketkai Drive, across Shell. If you’re taking a jeepney, look for vehicles that have “Limketkai” as part of their route.
