Yes, I just signed up for French lessons! And believe me, I have not been this excited in a long while. I have always wanted to learn how to speak French but have not had the opportunity to do so until now.
Of course, this is not to say that I’m already fluent in English and Filipino hence the interest to learn a new language. I’m still nowhere near being 100% articulate in both languages. I’m not even fluent in Bisaya (Visayan) – the dialect spoken largely in Mindanao, Philippines. There’s still so much to learn! Back in college, I learned very basic Chinese (Mandarin) and to this day, I can still manage a few sentences.
Anyways, my French 1 lesson would run for about 15 weeks. I’m terribly excited. I have even started listening to French lessons on YouTube. Here’s one great basic French lesson video I found. You might wanna watch it too:
Cool, huh? 🙂
I’m learning how to speak French for various reasons. For one, I think one should not stop learning. No matter what it is. Be it a new language, a new course. A person should not stop making himself or herself better by learning something new.
Secondly, I think learning how to speak French (or any other new language, for that matter) would be very difficult but challenging. And I like challenges. I want to challenge myself. I want to know how far I can go.
Third, I think the ability to talk to people of another race, culture and religion is exciting. I think it will make you a better person, a better writer, a better listener, a better blogger, a better conversationalist etc. It will help make you a better YOU.
Fourth, I hope someday I will be able to meet Bradley Cooper and talk to him in French:
Okay, that was a lie. What I really meant was I want to meet Bradley Cooper and just exchange sexy sweet nothings with him in French 😛
Kidding aside, I am so excited and positive over this new French 1 course. Maybe someday I will be able to write a blog post completely in French! Wishful thinking but hey…it could happen! 😀
Wish me luck!
