Mindanaoan In America: The River Inn Washington DC USA hotel

My fellow IVLP 2012 delegates and I were billeted at The River Inn during the Washington D.C. leg of our 3-week stay in America.

The River Inn is a downtown Washington DC hotel that’s located just 2 blocks from the Foggy Bottom Metro station. This affordable Washington DC inn is also within walking distance from Georgetown a.k.a. the historic commercial and entertainment district in northwest Washington. Georgetown is also where you can find (quite obviously) Georgetown University and yes, the original branch of Georgetown Cupcakes, the shop that gave birth to the hit reality TV show “DC Cupcakes.” (I visited the shop, by the way! I’ll share with you some of the photos I took there 😉 )

Location wise, The River Inn does get a lot of plus points especially since it’s just a few blocks away from The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (where a lot of events are held almost everyday) and a few minutes away from various historic monuments. It’s also very near K Street a.k.a. one of the busiest streets in Washington DC.

Oh, and The River Inn is just 2 minutes away from the infamous Watergate Complex – known for the Watergate scandal. Actually, the Watergate Complex is part of the view that I see outside my window every single morning.

I still have to look for the photo I took of the facade of The River Inn but for now, here’s a photo I found on one of the hotel’s partner booking sites:

My room was very spacious. I found this on my bedside table. A personalized letter welcoming me to the hotel and a big, delicious oatmeal cookie!

My work table: (the only downside about this Washington DC hotel was that the wireless Internet was really slow 🙁 )

Another plus point: The River Inn suites had kitchens!

Apart from my own coffee grinder and coffee maker, they also provided loads of genuine Starbucks coffee beans!

And what better way to celebrate my very first day in Washington DC than to buy myself a microwavable dinner? Haha! 😀

Check out the plush furnishings: (by the way, can you see that scarf on the bed? That was one of the send-off gifts given to me by the one and only Divine Lee 🙂 )

The newly renovated bathroom: (I was provided with Neutrogena soaps, shampoos and conditioners)

We stayed at The River Inn Downtown Washington DC hotel for several days. Personally, I’d recommend this hotel. Very accessible and just a stone’s throw away from all the magic, if you know what I mean.

We were served complimentary breakfast everyday, by the way 🙂
