Bukidnon Mindanao Kaamulan Festival 2011 schedule of activities

Want to attend the Mindanao festival that was once called by then Department of Tourism Secretary Ace Durano as the “only authentic ethnic festival in the Philippines“?

Kaamulan Festival is the annual gathering of Bukidnon’s 7 hill tribes namely Matigsalug, Bukidnon, Manobo, Talaandig, Higaonon, Umayamnon and Tiguahanon.

Bukidnon is a landlocked province in Mindanao, Philippines. It is located on the southern part of Mindanao and is largely considered as the food basket of the Philippines. Here’s more information About Bukidnon.


Among the highlights of the Kaamulan Festival 2011 are:

February 18, 2011 – soft opening of Kaamulan Festival 2011, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. A “pamuhat” or Pamukalag ha pamuhat ta Kaamulan will be held at the Capitol Grounds at 8 am.
February 22, 2011 – The Bukidnon Seven Ethnic Groups Convention will start at 8 am at the Kaamulan Open Theater

February 25, 2011 – Grand Opening of Bukidnon Kaamulan Festival 2011. An opening ritual, motorcade and school band parade will take place starting at 6 am. At around 8 am, the formal opening of the Kaamulan garden show, food fest, agri-fair, bazaar, livestock show will take place. A school band competition will also be held that day.
February 26, 2011 – Opening of the Kaamulan Invitational Basketball Tournament (Bukidnon State University Gymnasium), 1 pm. The Kaamulan Off-Road Challenge will also take place at Mangima, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon
February 28, 2011 – The Provincial Indigenous People’s Thanksgiving Day will be held at 8 am at the Kaamulan Open Theater.
March 1, 2011 – Bukidnon Ethnic Song Writing and Workshop in the morning and then Laga Ta Bukidnon 2011 (Miss Bukidnon) Talent Night in the evening (Kaamulan Open Theater)
March 2, 2011 – Tribal Olympics at Capitol Grounds
March 3, 2011 – Opening of the Kaamulan Rodeo (Grandstand, Malaybalay City). Coronation of the Laga Ta Bukidnon 2011 in the evening
March 4, 2011 – Piniliyapan Hu Bukidnon (Kaamulan Open Theater)
March 5, 2011:
4am Pamuhat (will be simultaneously done at the Capitol Grounds and at Sumpong area)?7am Kaamulan Festival Ethnic Street Dancing Competition (along Fortich Street)?1pm Ethnic Dance Clinic (Back of Capitol Stage)?7 pm Concert featuring national artist/band?9 pm Fireworks
March 10, 2011 – 94th Foundation Day program (Capitol Grounds)
