Have YOU registered yet?

Are you Filipino? (It doesn’t matter whether you’re Mindanaoantaga Mindanao – or from Luzon or Visayas) Are you at least eighteen (18) years of age and a resident of the Philippines for at least one (1) year? Then you might just be qualified to vote in the upcoming May 2010 elections!

Also, if you have lived in a certain place in the Philippines for at least 6 months prior to the elections, then you are qualified to vote.

PLEASE, PLEASE EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO SUFFRAGE!

If you haven’t registered with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) yet, then please visit the nearest election office in your area.  A registration form just like THIS ONE will be needed. If you’re a first time vote, you are required to PERSONALLY APPEAR before the election officer in your area. You will be required to state your full name and exact address. You must specify the house number, name of street, area, district, purok or sitio, and barangay where you currently reside in as well as a brief description of your residence.

The following are the currently acceptable identification documents that you may bring during your voter registration: (the documents must bear the voter-applicant’s photograph and signature)

1. Employee’s identification card (ID) with the signature of the employer or authorized representative;
2. Postal ID;
3. Student’s ID or library card, signed by the school authority;
4. Senior Citizen’s ID;
5. Driver’s license;
6. NBI/PNP clearance;
7. Passport;
8. SSS/GSIS ID;
9. Integrated Bar of the Philippine (IBP) ID;
10. License issued by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC); and
11. Any other valid ID.

In the absence of any of the aforementioned identification documents, the applicant may be identified under oath by any registered voter of the precinct in your area, or by any of his relatives within the fourth civil degree of consanguinity or affinity who are registered voters of the same city/municipality.

IMPORTANT: Community Tax Certificates or cedula or certifications/identification cards issued by barangay officials WILL NOT BE HONORED as valid identification documents.

Continuing voter registrations are being held at COMELEC offices nationwide from MONDAY TO SATURDAY (and even on HOLIDAYS).

Deadline for voter registration is on October 31, 2009.
